Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Moving to Digital

1: CEO stated that he will only keep dinosaur in A and B malls C level will go under and below

2:they just nix coo and CTO and others to follow . they did the classic move of having two others do the job of the nix positions. ( where have we seen that?)
3: The end of commission in shoes and suits leaving those go-getters not giving a rats a– anymore about selling.
4: Malls are dying faster than you think .. amazon has yet to roll out the finale death blow of drones and amazon go
5: The end of capitalisms , if you go look at Davos agenda it wants to end capitalism for the sake of environment.
6: brands pulling out of Macys due to fear of non payment.
7: Macys is trying to Pivot more towards Digital which means if you run a dept in the store you most likely will be cut in near future.
8: Jewelry/captains managers, ops/visual and AP will mostly be cut within a year
9: store will operation only as a fix to online biz for returns and order pickup so why do you need all these ops and managers?
10: start looking right now.. do not wait

@2ztm If you are only doing $500 a square foot you're in trouble. At best it should be a C Store. Sears was doing more than $500 a square foot in a number of their stores and look where they ended up.

People still want to shop malls—it's the poor selection of sellers, offering bland c-ap, that is fueling the move to online shopping. (Plus, being able to view the merchandise in stores and buy for a cheaper price online.) But, malls have all that non-productive open space, which can be put to better use if they're coverted to multi-use with shops, housing and offices.

Amazon stores are opening brick and mortar stores in many areas, carrying selections of items rated 4-star and above. So, there's still a need for the stores.

Marketplaces have been around through history, even without capitalism. Trading will never go away. During the Soviet era, there were stores. . .just with a garbage selection of items. BTW, the Davos people have called for the end of capitalism forever, but they've never found a way to improve upon it.
