Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Any idea when they are going to tell LOC employees what the heck is going on?

Kind of left us hanging with the announcement where they told us to work from home for now, with more news to come in 2021. Anyone think there is a chance for permanent WFH jobs in claims, or are they looking to jam everything into the hubs.

They have been trying to shut down non hub locations and "not lay off" the people working there for years. Now they can close physical locations while their employees are WFH, and then announce when they are ready a return to office and offer those WFH people to move.

I dont think SF will offer a real WFH option until the WFH workers at non hubs are removed.

I do not think they will ever offer WFH for anything below RA2, there still seems to be no trust in the lower end workers.

I think WFH is discovered to be a viable option, so why have these buildings? Most of the people in these locations outside Bloomington and the HUBS would have moved by now if they wanted to move for this company, so they'll lose too many people if they tried to force relocations.

you see....there's the bloomington mindset and then there's the real world. bloomites think what they see in the city is what's happening elsewhere.

not even close to reality.

wfh means giving up control and trusting folks. plus sf has spent billions on the stupid hub concept. that's mke's baby. no way he's going to admit failure no matter how many people tell him the concept is stupid.

Ion+ be careful. It depends on the business and labor laws. Insurance is regulated moreover than others. Plus, i don't think SF will ever give up it's control of you and how you think. Too dangerous for them.

You are too expensive for the return. I would expect you should look at other opportunities

I think I'm a lot more optimistic about the future than most people on here are. I can't imagine they want to lose so many of their experienced claim handers, especially the specialists. It takes a good amount of time to learn the job and also become good enough at it that if they got rid of everybody to start from scratch, they would really negatively impact the operation.

Pew Research:
"The abrupt closure of many offices and workplaces this past spring ushered in a new era of remote work for millions of employed Americans and may portend a significant shift in the way a large segment of the workforce operates in the future. Most workers who say their job responsibilities can mainly be done from home say that, before the pandemic, they rarely or never teleworked. Only one-in-five say they worked from home all or most of the time. Now, 71% of those workers are doing their job from home all or most of the time. And more than half say, given a choice, they would want to keep working from home even after the pandemic, according to a new Pew Research Center survey."
