Here’s a novel idea: make the PSE work the lead table every now and then. I don’t see him in my department selling anything in my name while I generate leads for him for two hours. And, hey Lowe’s! Have you ever heard of telemarketing to generate leads? How about deducting those hours we waste on the table from our SPH requirements? mo–ns run this operation.

Some weekends we give out sodas, cookies, popcorns or even hamburgers and hotdogs for leads.

Giving out hamburgers and hotdogs! Yikes, if they tried that in california the health department would be on them fast. A local grocery store used to have barbecues on the weekend they didn’t have the proper food handling permits, weren’t keeping food at the right temperature... they were told to end it or be fined. One person gets sick and it’s potentially a lawsuit.
They make us push around a cart on Friday Saturday and Sunday different people in different departments in csas don't know what they're even doing and it just annoys the customers . They're making us do it in Utah.
Our PSE always says he's going to a job sight when really he goes and does side jobs on Lowes time.
There is a reason behind this: The new HD ahole corporate mo–ns hate specialists. This is just another big “FU, do what we say” (and by the way we are raising your SPH again). It falls in line with, “here is your new sh–ty schedule rotation” (there was NOTHING wrong with the old rotation). We are also taking your delivery team, and by the way you personally pull and load every carry with or pick up later. Also, we don’t have enough appliances fir you to sell. Too bad. We are going to be a thing of the past one day. I see it clearly now.
We rarely put specialist on our lead table, it’s usually one of the part time cashiers or a retiree who was once a millwork specialist but now just works as door greeter a few hrs a day mostly because he’s well known in the area.. Some weekends we give out sodas, cookies, popcorns or even hamburgers and hotdogs for leads. People generally give fake names and numbers. One weekend a couple years ago we had 58 leads and the PSE asked them stop doing it because only 7 were the actual customer’s info. And all but 1 or 2 of them told him they weren’t interested in doing anything, they just wanted the free food. But it pads the reporting and allows us specialist to get 5-10 quality leads throughout the week. Its just numbers game. Our DM has even come to the store and awarded service stars for us basically putting made up names in the system. It’s a joke
The PSE lead table is a farce!
Our PSE is a lazy kid who has delusions of being a great salesperson. Two weeks ago he sat on his butt with his feet up on the Millwork desk complaining about how he had no assistant or lead generator at our store. While we sales specialists had to use an hour of our sales time to get him leads. That is a total crock of cr=p! No one gets leads for sales specialists. We have to get our own leads!!!
The PSE program needs revamped. It’s a joke!!!
I agree completely! The companies approach with the table is wrong. Running it every weekend isn't the best use for it, and it takes away valuable time from the associates that could be assisting customers on the sales floor and maintaining their SPH. The leads should naturally be coming from the sales floor through customer interaction. The table was originally designed to drive leads and the PSE program during special events/holidays like Spring Black Friday, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, etc. The PSE would block time on their calendar to help man it during those events. But the way it's implemented now (Every Weekend), you can't expect the PSE to work the table when they are supposed to be out selling the leads that you all are working hard to provide them. We get it on your end. It's frustrating! I can assure you that your PSE appreciates your efforts and a lot of us sympathise with you and the situation.
If the program is being supported properly in the store, then the table shouldn't be necessary. I know my store and team do an outstanding job as it is, but they are still doing the table too because it's corporate mandated now. It all about quantity vs. quality anymore and that's unfortunate.
Like the little blue skips of paper at the paint desk I suspect that one store did a lead table years ago, was successful, and now we all have to do it.
Bottom line; Lowe’s always goes with the cheapest way possible and since we are all already working they just use us. Lowe’s doesn’t care if you don’t make your number; in fact they would like it if you missed because it’s more money for them.
It's totally dumb. Just let customers inquire online or in store via kiosks or signs. This isn't a country fair, why do we have tables set up?
Try being a loyal vendor(my company DOES NOT sell to Depot)- Original poster nailed this! Imagine spending your company's time/money to get the PSE get QUALITY leads and he/she sells goes out and sells my competition. That is why this vendor DOES NOT work lead tables. I told the PSE's that they need to be present if they want me to work the table- if they do not bother to show up I will not work the table.
We have a dedicated pse lead person. They only work the pse table their whole shift. I assume they earn much less than the pse or specialist.
I agree wholeheartedly agree with the OP. Our store will pull Specialists out of our own departments on the weekend no less to staff the PSE lead table. The PSE is making far more than any of us and we lose our own sales to help theirs. How is that fair? Not once have any of us had the PSE bring us any sales. I simply refuse to do it and I will leave the table unstaffed and walk back to my own department. Let the little primadonna do it themselves.
The lead table at the store here is never manned, much less by the PSE.
Do you need that one window let me put a lead in he wants your back porch screened I'll put that lead in swimming pool I'll put that lead into we're told just to get them don't matter if they qualify or not
Oh Lord don't tell him that they'll be wanting us to call and generate leads by telemarketing
