Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Ex-Store Manager

I left the company in 2018. It had changed so much. They ran over everyone and I had to participate.

It’s interesting to note that the company I’ve worked for since, has found the some Walmart Store Managers have a lot of value to bring.

My store now pays great and has went from low to company record setter.

My team has low turnover, and a great team atmosphere.

If Walmart ever reads this. Please see that you have and continue to k–l the culture that made you great.

Change is inevitable. I know you’ve had to. You have in my opinion irreparably harmed your company by not investing in your people.

It’s all Fake. You give out raises but cut hours. You give out COVID pay and find a way to recoup by shorting your people somewhere else.
You eliminate high paid people who have stuck with you through thick and thin.

I don’t miss Walmart like I used to. That Walmart died.
What’s left now is Walmart in name only.

I’ll shop their sometimes. Seeing the faces of your employees consistently stressed and overworked with no desire to interact with customers says a lot.

To current people unhappy with working there.

I promise you. There are companies that will value you. Pay you right, and are stable environments to grow.

Do yourself a favor RUN don’t become a long-term employee. I would only use Walmart for a short-time gig if you're desperate.

Fantastic words ! Couldn't have said it better myself!

Same here for myself.

21 + years - started out as a frozen food stocker - to an assistant - to Co. Mgr. then store Manager. Was used for YEARS cleaning up other managers messes. Finally enough was enough. After having my integrity challenged, my morals and values striped away from me ? I had to throw in the hat as well.

Just to find another Retail Store Manager job making the same money better work life balance with a company that actually cares.

Walmart behind the scenes always did exactly what your saying. Give a bonus then cut your hours. If you where not the best friend of the store mgr. ? Mkt Mgr.? you where being talked about for being dismissed or labeled as trouble maker. I know this because I fell into this over the years and held these conversations with MANY Store mgr. to market mgr. levels. Ruined some very good peoples lives by firing them because of being brain washed to think so. There is always a value you can put on someone even if its going to push a broom instead of firing them.

But in the long run I did those people a favor and forced them to find a bit of happiness on the other side.

“ I promise you. There are companies that will value you. Pay you right, and are stable environments to grow.” Kroger is not one of them - avoid like the plague. It’s worse than wmart.

Love this. I have been with Walmart for 10 years and the company has changed a lot since I have started and not for the better. There is always a catch with Walmart. We will give you a myshare bonus then cut your hours for the next 4 weeks where you are actually in the hole so much for a bonus same with the Covid bonus, hours got cut. Also Walmart is investing in new hires and fails it take care of long rearm associates. People are starting out higher wages then 10 plus year associates, not right. We are just a number to Walmart and they simply just do not care. I need to start looking elsewhere for employment it just stinks having to start from the beginning all over again after 10 years with Walmart but needs to be done because Walmart does not treat their employees right nor do they value a good worker.
