Glad to see this isn’t just my store. Hell, we don’t even have a housekeeper anymore. Literally nothing is cleaned, let alone sanitized.

No one is responsible for your health but you. If you rely on someone else for your well-being, you’ve lost the battle.

As stated local labor laws vary by state. You can anonymously contact your state's labor department and state what is happening and they are able to determine.

Contact your local, state and federal elected representatives. The lower level employee is forgotten in legislation. Corporate employers have presented “Woke” experiences and yet their current lower wage employees are forgotten. As employees of B&M, no matter color of skin, value since return from furlough is lessening with every change. When called to return in May, no manager divulged honest scenario of employment. It was only when we returned, all of a sudden hours changed and job requirements also. Benefits, too. No PTO or Personal days were allowed unless accrued, and no time off requests were allowed until 7/5. Yes, we may have been accruing 2 days per month since return, but not allowed to use. And, no more corporate contribution to individual HSA, nor contribution for healthy lifestyle; ($100-$150 per preventative Obamacare required visit; annual physical, mammogram, and colonoscopy). The insurance pays for them, but no bonus incentive, (basically an added $ benefit), and nothing added to your HSA account. Cadillac corporate insurance? Do you feel comfortable with your premiums and HSA contribution with the new 28 hour guarantee for FT employee? Asked to sign a new agreement 2/20 stating FT guaranteed no less than 32hrs/wk, and availability to 40hrs/wk. Haven’t seen a new agreement to sign for 28hrs/wk. Not sure why I signed last year, since forced to sign Agreed Employment at Will several years ago. NC is an employee at will state, but ask your legislative leaders why it is normally lower wage employees that suffer. And ask the other judge in Houston who may have had to recuse, why are the “common, lower level working class” not protected. No store closures, no lay offs. Were your hours cut mid shift this week? Coincidently on Wednesday?, the exact day of Bankruptcy approval? No need to answer. Contact your local, state and federal representatives you voted for.

@khz I don't know what state you are in but there are Federal Labor Laws that address some of the issues discussed here. True, labor laws do vary state by state. Bottom line, the employees need to stand up for themselves.

Scheduled employees for 6 hrs; most states do not require breaks, it’s left up to employer discretion. Same as one hour lunches. Not required by state law. Hence the 1/2 hour unpaid lunch break.

We no longer get our 15 min breaks since we are so under staff. 6 hrs gets old without breaks. Its illegal but they don't care.

Adults do not wait for permission when they need to "go". I don't, and can't imagine a scenario where I would.

Call HR Services or email cvconcern@belk.com. Use a fake name or email. Disguise your voice. Do it as team! Find co workers who are willing to take action with you. Contact your local new station. They’ll run it as story... Email Charlotte Charolette_Obringer@Belk.com or call her 708.567.8633.

Or simply stop caring. Do the bare minimum. Let customers get annoyed by the long lines. And blame your store management... “sorry management didn’t schedule anyone. Just me.”
