Thread regarding Nordstrom layoffs

Coworkers waiting for the end

Everyone in my location is waiting for the axe to drop. As for me, I’m just here working for the paychecks (even though they’re always late). So many are looking to get out and others are looking to just quit - without any backup. It’s sad when it comes to this. There’s no faith in the company anymore. Why did it come down to this?

Wouldn’t be surprised if they cheat on their taxes. I mean they only paid half their rent last year.

I can't believe you employees are allowing Nordy to pay you late. Get a backbone and stand up for yourselves. No way would I let an employer pay me late.

The managers get paid well. And they would joke and clown around while we were pulling the weight.managers had Unicorn parties. Days out. Exploration trips. Tarot card readings. Show and tell day. The list goes on. It was a fun fest for them. I could get my 8 hour a day job done in 3 hours. They would stretch and drag the day!

Was always paid very late. That company starves its employees. The government pays me on time. I have more faith in the government!

Pay is always late sometimes by 3 weeks. It is hard to pay rent. It’s painful but job market is tight

The reason is because hourly and commissioned don’t get paid enough. They don’t get any raise for many years. Then, they start giving zero cares. Furthermore, the company cuts back on hiring extra muscles and ask the skeleton employee to do 2/3 ppl jobs. Why do they hv to work harder without extra pay?

The company went downhill after Blake died. It’s interesting how one person makes a huge difference.

It is sad. It's not just the economy and Amazon. When Blake passed away the company became like every other obnoxious retailer. Even if the pay was never great, you could have the opportunity to work with some wonderful people and managers with integrity ( depending on the location you were in).

If your paychecks are late and you live in California contact the state labor board asap. They'll fix Nordstrom real quick.

Sad to hear, it’s an understandable way to feel though. What region are you in?
