Hours for part timers have been cut to next to nothing so some departments have no one working there a lot of the day.
Customers are complaining they can't find any help and are leaving in droves.
And employees can't get anything done either as everyone seems to be working in two departments.
What gives?

I only use lowe’s as a showroom. If I want something I get the model number at lowe’s and see how it works. Then I go home and order from Amazon or Depot.
I don’t bother the employees and they rarely are around to even acknowledge me. I think it’s a win win.
To the customers walking out: “Well......Bye!” Bunch of impatient, dirty mask wearing, grouchy old goats. Take your money to the Orange Box. Serves all those Orange Box rejects right (who came to Lowe’s to louse it up).

Most of our parttimers have quit.
The store where I am at struggled through almost all of Q4 2020 with payroll hours slashed to the bone. Many of my part-timers, who had been getting close to full-time hours throughout much of 2020, were lucky to even hit 16 hours in a week. We are now a month into Q1 2021 and thus far nothing has changed. The full-time staff is exhausted and the part-time staff is increasingly leaving as they are not getting enough hours to make it worth their time. Yet we keep hearing through the store's intercom system that Lowe's is hiring. Talk about insulting my staff that can't get more hours and are already trained. I swear they must want the entire store to quit.

^ it’s not the corporate greed. Lowe’s was a great company. One of the few employee owned companies. We got profit sharing each year in the thousands for full timers. Now lowe’s is controlled by a hedge fund. The few people that own the hedge fund have the most shares. They voted so employees can’t own enough shares to take back the company. So now the few make the money that used to be given to the employees.
We are coming up on having to comp 2020’s numbers. Cost-cutting and cutting hours/positions is just beginning. If you work in a store, you are going to continually be asked to do more this year in both tasks and responsibilities—I don’t care who you are. There’s no way the stores can generate the sales needed to get the comps that corporate wants without doing this. Buckle up....

The same exact thing happened at to me Sears. On numerous occasions on a 60,000 sq ft sales floor it was only me and 1 cashier. We see how Sears ended up.
