Thread regarding Barnes & Noble layoffs

Does anyone suspect management of being RACIST?

We have one excellent assistant store manager who is remarkably intelligent and has been better at the job than anyone I have ever seen and yet, she has been shot down time after time after time and still hasn't been promoted to her own store. We all know why and yet there's nothing we can do about it. This regional manager has been mentioned here many times before.
Has anyone been through this type of problem?

We had a manager come in from the outside from media play. The first thing she did was make every black person‘s life miserable, until they all quit. Someone said something to her and her response was “it’s my store I can do what I want”

It's difficult if not impossible to prove and then challenge the accused person, I would contact a lawyer and even then, I doubt they would take this case. I would however be curious to see photos of all the store managers across the country and for that matter, upper management as well.

I wouldn't bring it up if it wasn't a serious issue. And who are the "appropriate persons" you speak of? It certainly wouldn't be the less than helpful HR Dept. They're only there to help the company save face and money!

The question of racism at BN is an excellent and valid one. However, this forum is not the place for random speculation about some vague management practicing this behavior. Racism is serious business and should be treated accordingly. If there are issues at your store, the person(s) involved should address them in a professional manner by contacting the appropriate persons. So please refrain from encouraging rumour mongering and adolescent speculation.
