Voluntary severance program: pros and cons

I would not speculate whether the voluntary severance package will be on the table or not, but I am interested in whether you would take it or if you would rather stay and hope to get to keep your job?
I think of all the pros and all the cons that voluntary packages have for employees.
Because of my situation, I would accept it in case there is some financial advantage to it.

There absolutely be no volunteer severance option for the layoffs in mid march. This type of program would allow high performers to leave and the non critical people would be left behind. Note how Enbridge's severance lottery went off the rails last year.

Unless I had another offer in my hand when they went looking I would decline to volunteer. The job market in O&G is abhorrent, other industries refuse to employ us out of blind prejudice and our prospects are bleak due to political shenanigans.
