Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Where is GM in automotive world?

I had 20 years of service to GM. They will EFF you over every chance possible, from the position you inquire about, and the HR reps that toss your resume in the trash. They claim professional grade, yet act nothing like.
I won’t go into my own personal contributions here, and how I trained a number of their blue badges, but take it for what it is. GM is a plague upon the automotive world. Your tenure, is limited. You heard it here first.
Find yourself a tier one company, and enjoy a career that can lead you into retirement.

Someone wrote this in one of the older threads and I totally agree. I used to think that GM was a major player in the automotive world, and then I slowly began to realize that I had overestimated this company.

Extracting the most out of employees leads to inferior products, period. GM management thinks they are good enough BSers to get around this fact. They are wrong and always have been.

The duty of the worker is to extract as much wealth from the employer for as little effort as possible. The duty of the employer is to extract as much labor from the worker for the lowest wage possible. This is a basic tenant of the labor market- to expect anything else is beyond foolish.

Former GM, a little over 20 years there. I was an engineer on the manufacturing side. It's funny you mention 20 years because in my experience the median years that engineers seem to leave GM, for some reason, is around 20 years. Maybe that's when people say enough is enough or perhaps it is part of a HR plan to squeeze older employees out. Not sure but I see a lot of engineers leaving around the 20 year mark.

Sad to hear that. As Elon said that we have too many MBAs in the industry, they control/manage the people without deep technology experience. Can you expect them to lead the Company in the right direction?
