What are the chances this will actually help and we won't be in the same mess one year from now? For the life of me I can't see how this bankruptcy will address any of the real problems we have that put us in this position in the first place - the main being horribly incompetent leadership! What's to stop them from leading Belk into rouin once again within a year or two?

They would rather spend $200 million on Cruise ships, than help Belk employees, feels like the Titanic going down
It won’t. Everyone reading this. It is time to start APPLYING to other jobs. You have all seen the warning the signs in the past months, and still chose to stick around. Trust me. There are jobs out there that will pay you more than $11 an hour. And treat you a whole lot better. I left in October to work in a factory. Getting paid $17.50 with actual future raises. And I promise you not it’s not bad.
You're putting the cart way before the horse. The company will be lucky to avoid full Ch 7 liquidation until the vendor issues are resolved, and they're going to demand prepayment from any DIP lending as well as recompense for what they're owed before the bankruptcy, but they're far in line behind bonds and other secured creditors.
