Thread regarding Belk layoffs

Belk family

Do I feel sorry for the Belk family for the current situation of their name sake company? No. They have blood on their hands for selling out to the devil.

Instead of looking for obvious blame, direct the inquiry to who is currently accountable. And, go back to day of purchase. Do your research. We’re here now. I can assure you our livelihood was much more secure then. Credit is also due to the Belk family who has donated so much to so many in our community. Yes, off your hard work to make your community a better place. Where’s that 2 billion that was sc-aped off after the 3 billion dollar purchase? 212

The Belk family does not care. As stated below, the family/heirs were not interested in carrying on the business. They got out of the game at an opportune time, no doubt.

Yes! That would be Sycamore and it’s “leader” all should be fearful of. No vision other than his bank account and morning mirror.

The Belk Family tried to avoid selling to anyone other than a stable retail entity. They had no successors to take over the family owned business. They were facing the inevitable e-commerce neccesity, which they were ill equipped and realized such. However, they left a profitable business and made their way through “the Great Recession.” They navigated the situation much better than most other large retailers. How? Integrity, honesty, and accountability to their vendors, employees and beloved clientele. Unfortunately, when it was time to sell the equity firms had already laid their claws on any potential rivals that could be our owners today. I don’t feel sorry for the Belk’s, and they wouldn’t want any of us to either. I’m sure they are disappointed and share hope for their former employees, and the many others challenged by the unethical business tactics that allow destruction of middle America.
