Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

good luck to all this feb

Well, its almost February, and that means its the time of year that Macy's does it mass layoffs.
I Was laid off last February with 1 week notice. I can't imagine how much worse it will be this year with COVID shutdowns, etc.

To all those still working “good luck” no one knows when the end is coming but look at the signs all around you. Don’t be blind. There is NO warning. So please make sure you have something put aside..when you fall it’s gonna Dam well hurt. Don’t trust anyone...

We are adding jobs. Adding FT and PT. HIRING. The company is INVESTING in go forward stores. Stop trying to scare people about the seasonals being kept on longer. We are trying to hire the best of them right now and let the rest go as soon as possible.

It would not surprise me if the seasonal hires are actually a cost saving move. Hire them at cheaper pay, cut hours and benefits to full-timers and hope they quit in the process, then repeat. Trust me, as bad as shape this company is in right now, they will do whatever it takes to blindside full-timers into a false sense of job security.

I am trying to make a post but can't figure out how 🙄 it's kinda related to this so hopefully someone will know... Any one have an idea of why we were asked to rate our Beauty Colleagues and Managers from Lancome, Lauder and Clinique? My thinking is that we may go to a one Beauty team. Anyone know??

The budgets are out and our store is adding quite a few associates instead of losing associates this year.

No layoffs. They are hiring all the seasonals and it’s so slow. Eventually they will be laid off if business continues to be slow. It’s ridiculous.

Support and sales positions are being added. The seasonal hires are all being offered permanent positions. I don’t know how this impacts the long tenured full time 40 hour a week associates. Possibly those peoples hours will be cut.

What kind of positions are you adding? We were able to keep a good bit of seasonal. But I haven't heard of any new positions yet.

Same as my store – no layoffs, they are hiring (it's all sales associates positions from what I know so far, at least at my store).

No layoffs in our store this year, in fact they are hiring. 29 years and this is the first February that it’s happened.
