I think they purposely got rid of the runners in most store to make everyone in shoes job much much harder so they quit. So after busting your a– for holiday your now told no more commissions. Which leads me to believe in a higher hourly which they legally have to give you due to the average of what you make. They didn’t want to do this so they try to run you into the ground to quit.

there will be no change to union stores. colleagues will remain on draw,
I worked Women's Shoes for many years under Macy's Draw Commission System. Originally we did not have runners and did everything ourselves. I actually preferred it that way because when they added runners we ended up paying for them in reduced commission rate. The experienced salespeople knew where everything was and pretty much had everything under control. We made our own rules so that there was fairness in the selling process. In theory you get better inventory control with runners, however, if you have a good crew you can get very good shortage control. When I worked Men's Shoes at another Macy's store, we only had approximately 30 shoes shortage for the year. As a side benefit, you stay pretty fit running back and forth getting those shoes. Just make sure that you put the poles away properly, if you leave them alongside a rack the pole can slide down and hit you in the eye. Best wishes and good luck.
Same here, never had runners.
You will be going open sell soon, I bet.
What a luxury to have runners. We’ve never had them and I’ve worked in shoes for 8 years.
There hasn’t been runners ever in my store in the five years I’ve been with the company.
