Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

Breaking point

It’s not nice to be ungrateful at work at a time when people are losing their jobs en masse and in general, working here has been nice for many, many years. However, backstabbing seems to have spiraled out of control and it's becoming unbearable.

I’d most rather quit, even though I haven’t found an alternative yet (I won’t do it, but that’s just how I feel). I wonder what your turning point was, when you decided to leave everything you had here at all costs?

There is not a magic answer to you question but you have to think about what your next move should be to get out of the environment. 1- Evaluate what skills you have and experiences you have gained with the Company. This is very valuable experience that you should be proud to have 2- Research the ideal positions that closely match with your skills. If you lack some skills try gaining them through formal or informal education and training. 3-Start building your network and round up who is the closest friend that would vouch for you. This is critical when you give references. Former bosses can be very helpful if they value your acknowledge and contributions. 4 - Be proud of your accomplishments as you will need to sell them when you interview for jobs 5-Speak and think positively about the Company and walk-away from all negatives no matter what. After all be grateful for what you gained through the Company. 6-When you plan to interview for internal or external jobs, speak with passion about how your skills and experience can make a positive impact to the organization. 7- Dress accordingly to current dress codes and look sharp. 8-Get rid of the word “agism” we know that this is real but you have to know that this can be overcome with wisdom, preparation and determination. You have to be positive and present the fact that you bring valuable experience to make a positive and immediate contribution to the team. This is what Companies want. 9-Prepare your resume and practice your interview skills with your immediate family or friends. 10-Lastly, start drawing out now your strategy for a new beginning. It may take time to realize it but It is duable, so be very patient . I hope that this can offer you and others some help to guide the next chapter in your life. I was in your situation but I was successful because of the steps I shared with you above, the support that I received and my strong faith in God. Wish you well in your future accomplishments.

After applying for over 10 internal roles and getting three interviews, I have realized I am too old for this company. When I go back and check the org chart to see who they hired, it is clear it's all about age. Not worth it anymore.
