Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Encouraging others to leave

Constructive advices are always welcome, but I don’t understand those who come here to leave a post saying ‘we should all leave the company as soon as possible’. I mean hey, we all know what tough working conditions we have here and I believe we are all considering better options. Please don't get me wrong, I would love to leave at this point but it’s not that easy to simply leave. What if we don’t find an opportunity afterwards? If someone is suggesting that we should leave our current jobs then they should also post some ideas where to go next. We would all be gone already if we had already found something better. I know I’m going to get downvotes, but I’m really fed up with such irresponsible advices.

Lets bear in mind here many not all of the people encouraging people to leave have a chip or some kind of axe to grind with Lowes. I can just share that in 20 years ive never missed a payday. I have been disciplined throughout this time and never contributed less than 10 percent to my 401k. I have also watched many young people job hop go here go there and let me emphasize i only watched because i stayed the course. Yes their have been some peaks and valleys highs and lows but regardless I have continued the discipline day in day out.My message here is be careful who you take advice from, because sometimes its not the best advice.

Agree with you. But as a former assembly worker who was fired in 2018 with no option of moving to another spot I also aggree with getting out asap. I worked my butt off and did many things not in my job description but was tasked with because management knew I'd get it done. They fired me 2 weeks from closing on my first house. They lost a good one...luckily I got a job at a machine shop and after 2 years I am making 3 dollars more an hour than I did after working at lowes for 16 years. Just got a 200 dollar Christmas bonus for my hard work. Marvin can kiss my rosy cheeks. I hope and pray people are looking to better themselves. Better jobs out there...just have to put in the time and effort.

I agree. I have always put 100% into a job and we all know this is a corporation. We can be replaced anytime. We work our butts off and that is all we can do. Lowe's isnt the greatest job there is, a retired lottery winner would be better, but, it isn't the worst job. Grant it you do have to work hard. Every job you have to work hard anymore. Retail is retail. Make the best of the situation and just keep looking for the job you would like to have or want, One day it will be out there. You were looking for a job when you found Lowe's I'm sure there are more opportunities out there

Find another job then quit. It’s foolish to quit without another job lined up.

If you are trustworthy can handle. Background check. Possibly a federal fingerprint check. Then look into the mortgage loan industry. From processors to loan agents, brokers, escrow... rates are at historic lowe’s. You’ll need to see what tests are required for your state and pass them. Most classes take from a week to a month. But the money and hours are great. It’s best to talk to some loan offices, banks, credit unions, brokers... and establish a network of contacts. But if you work hard, are accurate (nobody wants a home loan messed up). The industry should be on fire for a few more years.

I agree with you 100%. It's easy to say quit or leave but not always easy to find another job, especially in this environment.
