Thread regarding Belk layoffs

Not enough hours to live off

My hours have been less than 28 a week for months now and I was eventually forced to get a 2nd job. I don’t know how the company can expect us to prioritize them first when the hours we are being provided aren’t enough to be sustainable. Now I have a fulltime job and this job as well and I can’t survive on either of them alone. Merry Christmas to me, I guess.

@2oqc+18whVdZo Not a new norm, always in best interest of all store employees. 3rd quarter always benefits employees, (full time and part time), with greatest number of hours in allotted scale. 1st quarter is naturally the lowest.

This is not true. Belk full time is GUARANTEED 30 hrs per week. So as long as your full time every two weeks you will have a minimum of 60 hours on your paycheck. If you are full time and you are not getting an average of 30 hrs per week call Belk corporate HR shared services immediately and tell time you are being underscheduled as a full timer.

Hi ! I am a Belk’s associate too. Currently, full time but our hours were cut way back to 26-30 hours over thanksgiving. I got 21 hours for 4 weeks straight and through Christmas 36 hours a week. Already, this week, we are cut back down to 21 hours a week! 3 days a week. I am wondering if I will be able to hold on to my insurance?! Sad. They have numerous seasonal workers though. ???
