If management could bring back a few of the people they kicked to the curb - people who were “top shelf” at their job, knew how to get the most out of themselves and their people, straight arrows who put the company ahead of their own selfish interests - who would those people be?

Laying off the smart ones was their mistake. Appointing inexperienced people who would easily do new management's bidding was another. Just because they were a college athlete or just got their MBA didn't mean anything as they were terrible supervisors. Then, the rest of the intelligent people left because now they were out numbered and couldn't stand working for mo–ns every day. That's how I remember it. The performance of the company is evidence of the bad management decisions they started making around 2016. Just a terrible strategy to promote bad apples who run off your best employees.
Bring back to what?

Yeah, I cant not look at the propaganda posters in my office and the hallways and get pssed off. What a waste of time and money for all of that stupid sht when we should have had our nose to the grindstone.
I’d say a lot of the really good technical people were booted years ago when they wouldn’t get on board with all the feel good posters and kool-aid.
The problem is they are focused on pushing a culture of soft skills and fluffy sh–, when they should have been pushing a culture of technical skills and innovation. Sadly they laid off some of the smartest damn people I knew and the company is going to suffer for it in the long run as they continue to have operational and development issues. Bring back my people dammit!!!
Change nothing. Keep the Anadarko top brass. They will make Chesapeake great. They just need to bankrupt it a few more times first.
