Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Schenectady Cores and Casting House Christmas Gift

It has been announced the GM of this new GE business that has really taken off, is leaving! He admits he is not the person to lead as the business goes full steam ahead on production of a new stage 1 gas turbine blade production. The only place in the world to successfully make these new blades. The GE gas Turbine sales team has sold 23 sets of these new blades so far! Planning to produce 5 sets in 2021, and then 6 sets in 2022! This is fantastic news for GE, as well as hourly 301 workers! The opportunity for this business to grow exponentially in Schenectady NY is there. If the Union and GE work together, many more jobs could be created, to help actually drive down the cost of these high tech blades. A bit of skepticism is relevant for all, both sides of the coin could really screw things up, if the same old mindset and attitudes are applied! Hopefully there is hope for a bright future and a actual success story coming out of the once great site and beginning of GE!! Merry Christmas to all!!

1dvz+18vSZyB7 Hey bud I’m sure there is a loop hole for legacy rate union members. So when the cuts come you will be on the street with rest of those t rates and the d rates will stay. How can a 20 year union member be on the streets when there is a 5 year t rate working? The d rate pays more dues now and has paid more than you in the 20 years of service. So believe me there is a loop hole for the almighty D! See you on the streets T! Happy new year get ready for it.

The company is waiting for this union probe/audit to finish then the hammer will hit the nail. That’s the only reason they have not already swung the pink slip barrage. T rate was suppose to be a (t)emp position it’s in the cards.

He knows that there is something big coming g to Schenectady. It’s not that he couldn’t do the job he got the memo. Get out and move to a secure position before the next round of job cuts. This round will be historic for the campus there will only be about 250-300 union slugs left to carry the legacy. T rates will become exiled from 273 and 66.

He saw the writing on the wall for Schenectady he knows something bigger is coming and it’s not a huge work order. It’s the opposite

He said the same thing when he left wind. He just wants people to feel bad for him.

Bud, you make the salary of 10 normal employees, not going to feel bad for you.

Its a GE dark secret of course. He claimed to be moving to another project, but in reality, corp. HR has prob finally had enough of all the complaints from all the salary folks, on top of all the hourly complaints to corp hr. Seeing how Schenectady HR is as useless as local 301, people have been forced to go beyond local, and get things actually done!! He is in the executive level of GE, so at the very least, he’ll get a golden chute to just go away!!

Not the new stage one .03 blades. They are made from scratch right in Schenectady NY. Its a shame that everyone doesn’t know about the amazing things being made in our back yard per say!! GE doesnt make its blades, they are made buy partners or contract companies, like PCC. No one else in the word has been able to make these new blades!

What does that have to do with this post? If there is a layoff in Schenectady it would effect 273, Just about everyone in building 66 is basically safe from any bumping of higher service folks. Seeing how the 301 membership mostly has zero clue what's going on in Cores and Casting, and the hall leadership is very disconnected from this business, most don't know what has gone on in the last year with the hourly workforce, and the amount of work that's there now and for at least the next 2 years. Vast improvements and investment in the workings of the operation in building 66. The sales numbers are in ink, the orders are in ink, get informed and ask questions, the future work load isn't in Building 273!!!

I work in Cores and Casting, I sat thru the all hands meeting Friday afternoon, i can confirm this is a true story. What happens going foreword is a big question for sure! It was unfortunate that seeing the board member is out, there was no other union leadership there beyond the steward and a trustee that works in the building. The second all hands this year that no hall leadership has attended, same story, like a broken record. Maybe the P was busy working at R and D, so he couldn't attend? Yea, that happens too last week!!
