Aviation is offering older salary employees a VRIP. Plan is horrible compared to other divisions or even aviation's own layoff plan. The plan saves company a ton of money of course. I am very disappointed in GE and what it believes is fair.

VRIP is generally an outstanding deal. Don't listen to the shop closing rumors. If you got a ticket out and that works for you, punch it. Otherwise, hang on for the ride and use your unlimited vacation like most of my peers do weekly. I used to get upset about it; now I do the same. It is the way…

Be careful @6feq+18uGTrQ9 cobra can be quite expensive 1200 - 1400/mo. Also if they lay you off you would get better package and could draw unemployment. The key is the company saves a lot of money versus laying you off. So that can't be good. Maybe if you have 30 years and good pension it might be ok if you planned to retire soon anyway. Consult with a retirement advisor as usually no charge for that service. Also if you know anybody that got cut ask them what kind of package they got. Good luck with what ever you decide.

Of course it saves them money, that's the whole point. They could give a damn less about you or your family. It's just the truth. Life is short. My advice would be if they offered you a stack of dimes and you kept your pension, GET OUT QUICK. Preserve your health and avoid them!!
This is confirmed. Offer were made in Evendale on Friday Dec. 18th. You need to be 60 yrs in 2021 and x amount of years service.
I hope what you’re saying about Wilmington is true but I just don’t see it. It’s a ghost town right now, every day I go to work I expect to see the gate locked.
1nyq+18uGTrQ9 only shop on the radar to close is west jeff.. Wilmington getting 20 or so military parts from up north and Asheville is hiring CMM programmers. So maybe I will leave this cold weather up north and head south.
hey @zlp+18uGTrQ9 most salary people are not chiefs. many make much less than people in the shops and work longer hours without overtime pay. well i can see most on this site work in the shops and have attitude that they work so hard and salary people are useless. i am privy to the shops they have on the radar to close. but since you love to see me go no use sharing on this site anymore.
