Thread regarding Imperial Oil Limited layoffs

EIT's laid off

So in my group (E&PS) they just laid off all the EIT's. I think there were 10 layoffs in total, just with people who had been in the company less than 3 years. Mostly visible minorities, and two people who were on maternity leave. What kind of toxic f—ed up sh– is that? Just wondering if its was just my group or others?

The company will be investigated one day and all the hidden skeletons in the closet will fall out. Imperial and ExxonMobil were the recipients of Government stimulus (CEWS) of almost $150 million this year and yet laid off 300 employees - contrary to the spirit of the program. The money then went towards paying dividends to shareholders whereby EM was the principal beneficiary. The unemployable Imperial fat cat executives did not take a pay cut like Suncor executives, but to the contrary will receive their incentive compensation and bonuses for a great job done, while the laid off visible minorities will be job hunting. Dont forget this....what goes around comes around.

Your tone will be changed when they kick you. Go and work with cheap BTC. By the way Management also prefer specific minority group due to BTC engagement. All Canadians and US employees even management knows the quality of work and fraudulent expertise and cheating from BTC. They won't acknowledge that as greedy management want more money at the end of the year from profit and stocks. They don't care about Company's asset.

Everyone is saying recent experienced hires are the scapegoat and it's a discrimination. Company has to acknowledge that.

All recent hired are the scapegoat of the situation especially experienced ones with visible minorities. Let's get together and protest. It's a clear discrimination.

Company can layoffs people due to business need. However, only targeting recent hires (2/3 yrs) and keeping past hires clearly prove their cruelity. As they have to pay more money as package to past hires(10 yrs) they targeted recent hires. Greedy Management laid off employees instead of reducing 20% / 30 % salaries of everyone. They only want to fill their pocket by kicking others. At the end they don't give a sh– to company's asset (upstream / downstream). They only want to keep all money for them and their families. For that they can s— their bosses back. When Company start to fire Managers /Supervisors, they won't find any job even in a 10 guys small company. No one will hire these dumbs.

Why would that surprise anyone? In every business or corporate group, visible minorities are most susceptible to being shafted. Occassionally, a few Asians females may likely and conveniently be promoted - those are red herrings - simply a ploy to give the appearance of propriety and fair play. Every department has its stories of racism and foul play but who will listen.....
