Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Why are we so mean to each other, more so than ever?

During my many years of work in the company, I have never experienced such a bad atmosphere as it is now. It is clear to me that we are all a bit nervous, the pandemic has made all the bad things even more obvious, but it is not clear to me why the employees have become so hostile to each other. I don’t know how it is in your stores, but in this one where I work, everyone is too intolerant of each other. The situation is unbearable.

Why, we are here to give “World Class Customer Service” (new mantra).....but you had better pack down aisle 13, do your IRPs, handle Code 50’s, do your AP4me, LowesU, Safety LLC, sell credit, get 10’s, sell leads, go cover Millwork, slo g freight and...why are you taking a break,I need this all done and I don’t care if you are scheduled alone!

Lots of former Depot managers and market directors are being brought in down in our area of the country. One was recently brought in down here and put in a store with a base salary of $130k/yr with the understanding that he would soon be put in a market director slot. I also know of several long-term store managers and even HR people who have been either let go or documentations process started with them and they see the handwriting on the wall and quit. Like during the restructure of 2017 when Niblock was on the way out the door, I think another purge is now taking place and tenured employees and managers that don't totally adapt and get on board with the new directions and programs won't be there much longer.

It’s “Up the Misery Factor” to drive out long time employees. They don’t give a rats a** about us. There is definitely a lot more “gotcha” coming from the district managers, and the sh*t is rolling down hill by “threat management” styles. It is a more negative environment now. All of these HD jerks that have infiltrated the company are k–ling moral. Probably purposefully. 2021 is going to be brutal, trust me.

Mean. It’s because it comes from the top down. The atmosphere was different under Niblock. It was more of a “Lowe’s family” feeling. Maybe the stock didn’t skyrocket, but we didn’t have a virus selecting winners and losers either. Merlin got lucky with timing. Lowe’s now is salt mine to work in with a lash to their hide management style that is prevalent at the store level. Interesting management style for a black C.E.O. Marlin is a rough team are a rough bunch.

I was standing at the service desk one night and one of our one task team members called in, my ASM got on the phone and said “really? You gotta be kidding me” “You can’t I need you here you one of the few PE operators, I’m sorry but I’ll see you at 9” I don’t know if they where sick or not but with everything going on literally telling a employee that they can’t call out sick is kinda bs

IT ALL STARTS AT THE TOP!

And it’s not just Marv, don’t forget Tiny Hands Joe’s contribution to all the lousy new policies and directives!!!

Pretty obvious here that a spelling bee trophy or a degree in grammar was never attained.

It’s because Marv told all the stores to eliminate delivery drivers for 3rd party. Schedule delivery drivers that violate federal DOT rest time rules. He told stores to give full time employees the worst schedule as possible till they quit. Hire some clueless scheduling coordinator who schedules people with such a fluctuation that it makes no sense and violates the dot rules. Marv told store managers to treat employees like rubbish till they quit. Marv told store managers and scheduling coordinators to lie to employees to get them in the door. Many quit with in weeks of hire to a few months. Lowe’s is pathatic! Does not care about your home life at all! McDonald and Burger King give better schedules than Lowe’s. Home Depot give better schedules than Lowe’s. So Lowe’s don’t have to pay 401k, store bonuses and health ins and hire part timers and temp people. Lowe’s is a real dump with no regard for human need! It’s all about Lowe’s corporate greed! We need to start unionizing in these stores. So much knowledge have walked out the door because of these new policy’s. It’s a shame

I’ve noticed that too. I’m just a part time csa, but I know some of the full time specialists complain in the break room about too much pressure to make sales etc. pro specialists complain about credit and say that they try to steal each other’s sales. Managers have been even more unfriendly too. The stores seem to be hiring a lot of seasonal people, they don’t seem to work as hard and have been calling off a lot.
