Scheduling cashiers problem

There are abnormally long lines in my shop. It’s chaos all day long and this company doesn’t stop unpleasantly surprising us day after day. The problem is that management obviously doesn’t care and doesn't schedule cashiers. Do you also have this problem in your stores? If you also have this problem with cashiers, I’m interested in how you deal with the register?

We have the same problem at my store. Between constant turnover, call-outs, scheduling gaps and meeting payroll budget constraints for the front-end - there are not enough folks to handle the regular traffic flow of customers. I do the best I can but I'm really getting worn out. 2021 I plan to look for another job.

It’s not a scheduling program it’s the scheduling coordinator and store manager. Then they keep hiring anyone that applies to get them threw for a couple of months. It’s a revolving door and a trend.

We have the same problem at my store. Between the number of Covid-19 front end folks that are absence, call-outs and the scheduling gaps - we are in the same boat at my store you are experiencing. Yes, we make an effort to hire more cashiers - but they don't stick around too long.

Either that or they just won’t hire any so they can leverage payroll. I walked in to the store yesterday and an ASM was running a register. Managers here often just pull employees from other areas to run registers instead.

Due to corporate greed your estimated wait time is 3 days and 4 hours we appreciate your business

Doubt what you are seeing at your store is all that uncommon. Starts with our BS scheduling software that has to be manually tweaked relentlessly. Combine that with the heavy use of young part-timers who statistically seem to call out far more frequently than older full-time associates and the results you are seeing are predictable. Then the icing on the cake is your employee bench is likely so empty you have no one to call in at the last second. Lowe's continues to reap what it sows.
