Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Life away from GM

Settled into a new job away from GM. It’s awesome to actually be eager to go to work. I will never miss:

The inability of higher ups to make timely decisions
The discouragement of differing views
The always present negative atmosphere
The UAW whiners who put a lot more effort into avoiding work than doing their jobs
The ‘skilled’ trades who would not survive a week in a real job. They are mostly skilled at hiding and complaining
The diversity hires that are in way over their head. No knowledge equals no respect.
The finger pointing and blame game
The incredible waste of money and resources because of incompetence
The lack of accountability to the incompetent
The ‘ We are GM, we know best’ attitude
Half baked, uncompetitive new products
Poor product quality you are embarrassed by

Get out while you can. It’s a whole different world out there!

Don't have to be salty to take shots at subpar. It was the mannerism and methods of the dismissal that is abysmal. That is, the people that lead at GM.

One guy I know, walked in and went to the bathroom. After walking out, received a phone call saying he was fired and shouldn't have been there.

Another, called on Saturday, don't show up on Monday.

What sector did you move into. I'd like to get out of automotive period! Way to much competition and instability, not worth it anymore. It's a miserable industry to be in.

I know many who have spent their entire careers at GM. Dysfunction seems normal to them, not having experience life outside GM.

It's a layoff site and they are writing about their layoff experience. Whether it be involuntary, buyouy, induced resignation, etc.

Why are you here?
