Thread regarding Belk layoffs

Bellyaching

Wow. This site has NOTHING to do with being laid off at Belk. It’s just a board to post all of your gripes. If you’re so miserable, your job is so bad, your hours are getting cut, One Belk is a farce, Executive leadership is non- existent, business is down, no one is carrying their weight... well, maybe YOU should leave. What are you waiting for? Some big severance check? Lol Good Luck with that.

Customers do view employee’s willingness to service their business. If you’re not willing, you should move on. It is unfair for those who do give better than best service!

Lol the bellyaching comment is true. I’m sure the customers have picked up on the s****y attitudes of the employees. They’re moving along to Target, Dillards, even Kohl’s. Here’s to a profitable Q4 ladies and gents

No, not living under a rock. Retail climate? Not every company is failing. Some are making money right now, moving ratings up and outlooks from negative to positive. If you relying on information pushed by lobbyists of Amazon about “ consumers changing habits “ you only see one side of the story. Sycamore won’t do anything to safe this company, you are right. But what if they get arrested tomorrow? Or CEO resigned? Don’t assume that everything is absolutely predictable and can only go negative way. Life is full of surprises.

Been living under a rock?? This is not temporary. Wake up and look at the retail climate the past 5 years prior to covid. It’s been tanking and if this company doesn’t wake up soon and invest in itself- we’ll soon end up like the dinosaur stores of the past. Don’t think Sycamore will be the saving grace. I expect them to be the meteorite that will put and end to the old Belkosaur.

“You’ll never find any accurate info on here”. Well, I don’t hope to see financial reports on here, that would be correct. What I hope to hear about any signs of changes in any location; if there shift from absolute focus on fulfillment towards interest in customer-in -store. If CEO appeared and say anything. If there is an article of respectful source I missed. That’s why I’m looking at this site. A smallest signs of changes are a lot better than absolute silence from the leaders. Because there is a hope for coming back to our specialties ( management, visual, merchandising, LP), hope to breathe out that we don’t need to look for jobs immediately. And yes, I’m actively looking for job, but I don’t want to leave if all this misery is temporary. And sure, call me a fool.

Well... stores is poor condition, no help, managers quitting left and right, no raises in two years, senior leadership radio silent, vendors not being payed, a significant decrease in TV ads, I’m no rocket scientist, but all of this points to one direction!

You’ll never find any accurate info on here. Everything is purely guessing, speculation, and rumors at best. If you think this board will give you insight on company business then you’re a fool. Being a private corporation they don’t need to publicly announce earnings so you’ll never really know how you’re doing. The numbers won’t lie.

Oh phleease!
People are simply looking for information about what’s happening with the company. There is not a word from the top! “ One Belk “ is a disaster, I can’t believe you don’t see it. We worked there for years and loved it, but what’s happening now is not normal! This is not about emotions and hurt feelings, it’s about jobs! Do we have it? Are they secure? Are any more changes coming? Cuts? Restructure? We are desperate for information, that’s why we are talking! You either on a high position and know a lot or just dismissive and condescending for your personal reasons. Don’t you dare to judge us.

Keep your eye open for new job opportunities, even non-retail. When the right one comes along leave! And don't look back.

I was laid off after 17 years of service in 2019. I wound up coming back at a different location for financial reasons after the 6 month waiting period was up. It was hell but I stayed a year and finally found a better job. I'm never going back. I feel most everyone's' pain on this page.

No one here has been laid off. They just commiserate and complain.

You just summed up the whole site with sarcasm and, though I may be a skosh off track (I doubt it), I believe I detect a hint of litotes, there.

Bravo!
