Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Maybe there is hope after all

I admit that the company has been losing revenue, but as the below article states our losses are receding. I don’t know if it will stabilize but I can only hope. Wouldn’t it be surprising if M survives and it pisses off the naysayers who want to see it fail? I for one have hope.

The biggest disappoint about this company is that all the good hard working employees like myself were laid off while they continue to keep the lazy ones. I understand the whole seniority by union thing and it's frustrating to know that those who are in the high seniority can pretty much just do nothing, take long breaks, and chit chat with their other high seniority colleagues all day while the lesser year employees are putting in all the hard work and sweat and at the end of the day when it's time to trim the fat we're the first to be let go. And come 2021 with another lay off coming more of the hard workers will be let go and the lazy ones will continue to remain behind not caring for or wanting to do what the managers tell them, so good luck Macys.

By becoming small it becomes less relevant. Which it’s easier to squash by big tech like Amazon. You have no idea what’s coming down the pike Drones delivering with crush a small company like it never existed . Macy’s has nothing special or Proprietary that’s actually of good quality and that somebody wants . This will be there last Xmas

Macy*s will survive, but very small compared to what they once were. There isn't anyone truly left to purchase them and mall space isn't exactly a top priority right now for retailers. I don't believe they will go under completely as they have a place in the retail world. It simply won't be what customers and associates are used to. Bankruptcy could be in their future, closing stores is for sure. Staffing levels are low now, next 1-3 years could be lower as stores and even square footage shrinks. Workload and moral have to be at a all time low and climbing out of that is a battle in itself, let along sales and credit.
Associates and Leadership are working crazy hours with inventory right around the corner. Then after that comes the news of (more than likely) what stores and positions are no longer needed. This isn't 'wanting them to fail' it's just the current path the organization is on.

Macy’s won’t survive. It’s not part of the government big plan.

To survive they need to rip the bandaid off. Keep the stores that are in ‘A’ malls or downtown locations and close or repurpose the other locations. Funnel the effected colleagues to the 1 location and beef up the store experience!!! They have to bring back the nostalgia of traveling downtown and going to shop at Macy’s, or they can’t compete with Amazon. Then fix the product selection and your back in business!!

Macy's will survive in some form or another. It's an American Icon.

Macy's should survive just based on the legacy -kinda like the NY Yankees. But it will be greatly retooled to move forward and may be bought. It will certainly not be led by the hokey pokey egomaniacal brain trust running it now. The most talented and hardworking "grunts" - I use that word proudly, being one of them may stay. The entire culture must be changed to quick, en pointe, creative, fearless and have an AI/merchant synergy second to none.
