For the stores that do their own inventory, do you think it will go Smoothly?

Results can be "tweaked"

Given the extreme cuts in the amount of merchandise we have in our store, inventory counts this year should be a breeze. The results on the other hand will be a disaster. Between the layoffs at the start of the year, the pandemic and resulting store closings during the spring, and the companies crazy decision to stop apprehending shop lifters our store is missing more merchandise than we ever have. If the number of items we can't find for fulfillment is any indicator, it won't be any fun trying to complete the recon process.

We have groups just come into the store and load up and walk around managers when we try to provide "service" in our effort to stop them from walking out of the store with hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars worth of merch.

It's kind of a catch 22. If your inventory goes smooth, AND the number comes in at or below goal ' then prep and your take was excellent'. Then recon starts and they ask you ' why and how did you miss that?'

If your inventory goes smooth (remember you are the one in the store) and the number did not hit goal, and you have to recon your butt off, your 'take and prep was poor' and have a meeting and discuss what went wrong.

I think inventory will go as smooth as it ever does. While shortages are expected, I expect we will have more shrinkage than we realize.

Our store always did their own and it NEVER went smooth!

The company my store used the last few years was terrible and while I don't relish doing 5 days of overnights, I expect it'll be alright overall.
