Thread regarding Chesapeake Energy Corp. layoffs

Don’t think it’s over

A current employee told KOCO 5 that it's "like a bloodbath inside" and employees didn't have any warning of the layoffs.

"The company itself has had some difficulties because of their extremely large debt,” said Dewey Bartlett Jr., chairman of the Oklahoma Energy Producers Alliance.
Chesapeake reported debt of as much as $21.5 billion when it filed for bankruptcy.
"It's a real tough, tough situation, obviously,” Bartlett said.

Bartlett said he isn’t shocked to hear about Chesapeake layoffs because the price of oil has plummeted throughout 2020.
Bartlett said he doesn’t think the layoffs will be the last for the Oklahoma City-based energy company. He said he expects about 1,000 jobs to be lost throughout the country and thinks the company is only about halfway through those losses.
"It really has devastated the entirety of the oil and gas industry,” he said of low oil prices.

Bartlett said the only way for Chesapeake and companies like it to rebound is to have the country operate like it did pre-COVID.

Do you mean the Chesapeake investigation or the IRS investigation?
Both investigations continue. I understand there will be arrests. I've heard Purple Land and Honor Resources paid most of the kickbacks.

What ever happened to the investigation of the kick backs paid to members of Land from Holland Land, Percheron, Western Land Services, etc.? They made out like bandits. Looks like they may get away with it.

lol one drilling engineer per foot drilled. To much truth plus the optimizer folk and control center. How many people do you need to watch a rig make hole and trip? Now they are going broke, guess they shoulda had even more people watching the rigs. This company gets in there own way more than any other operator, period

Try working on one of the rigs. It seems they already have one drilling engineer per foot drilled. Chesapecks chosen method in terms of office personnel is quantity over quality. Why have one 10,15 year DE watching multiple rigs, harmony amongst operations, and let your field men execute... when you can have one guy with maybe 5 years experience for every goddamn rig, calling and pestering and changing his mind every few hours and doing things totally different than other rigs?

Heard CHK was going to be hiring a lot in 2021. Specifically drilling engineers. The plan is to have 1 DE for every foot drilled next year.

Is CHK putting up the Christmas lights this year? I don’t live in the City. I was just wondering? It was always so pretty.
