Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Do they give new employees more recognition than proven good workers?

My mother has been working at Walmart for over three years and knowing full well how hard she works and how committed she is to everything she does, I feel very sad when she says that she is failing to get a raise.

It is a story that is probably close to all of you, but what is not clear to me is how someone who works so hard and knows many different departments well, gets less than someone who is employed as a cashier in this company (like someone already mentioned on one of these threads)?

With all due respect to new cashiers, how is that possible?

You don't want a Union, trust me. Been there, done that. While your workday truly descends Into all new depths of hell with the big difference being you are actually paying a company for the ride (yes, unions are a business).

They will give you nothing tangible but lipservice

Honestly, there’s probably a misunderstanding here. Your mother should speak to store management or the personnel person if there was no increase and performance was acceptable. They can get a salary history off the system in about 30 seconds (if they know what they are doing). They can also see if an increase was not allowed, and why. It could be she didn’t actually see any uptick in NET pay due to several reasons, such as, increase in benefit cost, that sneaky increase in 401k they try to sneak in during annual benefit enrollment, change in withholding, etc. Start by looking at pay stubs from 3 years back and look at the hourly rate. Pull 2 or 3 for each year. If your mother was a Walmart store associate new hire and didn’t come from another Sam’s or Walmart position, the pay stubs will probably answer the question. If not, the next step is personnel or store manager.

It's possible because the average (non management) employee is stuck in the annual 2% wage increase – there is no deviating from this. No merit increase – just 2% across the board. I could be standing next to Joe Slack Off – and he will get the same increase as me . . . Those coming through the door right now are making more than some of your long term folks. If you mom is not getting any kind of increase, it could be due to attendance. If you have a certain amount of points, you do not qualify for the annual increase. But, they really need to redo this system. I think this is why we have so many "I don't give a c_ap" employees.

This morning there was a comment about its time to unionize Walmart. Who had that thread removed and or blocked because a union is needed to stop the madness that Walmart inflicts on its workers. I've never seen a thread removed so fast on here but I know it was done by Walmart because the truth shall set you free. Come on Walmart associates check into unionizing couldnt be worse than what you face now. Hope this makes it past 15 minutes I'm sure it will mysteriously disappear. I faithfully worked for walmart for 23 years and could pen a book, which I may do.
