I wish they would get rid of more of our management as they are all bullies. Let’s give Cenovus a try without our guys making that place miserable.

Isn’t Cenovus’s playbook tactic to layoff constantly in small numbers as to not make the news instead of doing mass layoffs that would grab attention?

I was let go in October 2015 from CVE, along with 750 employees. In 2017 I got a sh– pay contract for a summer student role as a replacement for EI which had expired and I could not find any job by that time, and my old boss hired. I worked very hard and kissed every butt in that group, and they extended my contract every 6 months. For 4 years since I have seen 6 layoffs... best people, those who were experts in their areas were replaced with inexperienced contractors...I am again let go by the end of December, they prepare for January Exodus..
I wonder why do they need 10 EVPs? I am angry

What are you guys talking about layoffs every 3 years at Cenovus. They happen every single year?@#R?T?R$W#?

The only constant at cenovus are layoffs. We are on round 9 now and there will be more as they slowly sell off assets. The layoffs will keep going and the mental anguish that goes along with it. Remember you will be treated with fairness and respect. Whatever.

Don’t worry, those boxes only have a lifespan of 3 years again before CVE goes and buys another company and lays everyone off once more. Any bets on which company is next? Maybe a US shale play ?

If you survive, you have 3 years max before you have to survive another layoff round.. check the trend...

Conventional, oil sands, Lloyd cold/heavy and a few Lloyd thermals won’t even get maintenance capital in the new co.

Cenovus is or will be an oilsands and refining company. The rest is expendable. They will slowly try to sell it all off and then more layoffs will come.

It’s pretty clear they don’t place much value in conventional, offshore and east coast.
