Maybe I’m just old, but who the heck would want to sit in their house and order clothing without touching, feeling, or trying it on. As a 67 yr old lady, trying on clothing is essential for me. I never understood the internet, smartphone obsession. Sure, I use the internet, but 40 years ago we had the Sears Catalog and Rich’s Catalog, we didn’t sit home and JUST use the catalog, we went into the stores to shop and interact too. It’s such a strange society we live in today, not just CoVid, but all these millennials who don’t have a Clue about life, money, or anything. When a millennial can’t figure out 40% off $79.99 without a calculator (like the 30 year old manager at my local belk) we are in deep, deep, trouble. I wish we could travel back in time 40 years, life was much simpler and a better time.

If someone can’t figure out 40% off of $80 without a calculator they need to go back to 7th grande math class.
I shop online for clothes almost exclusively just because i hate shuffling through merchandise in store. Maybe Belk is pushing online ordering right now because of Covid-19. In general, yeah, i don't think they want customers coming into the store. The place is a wreck.
As for calculating percentages, what's wrong with using a calculator?
It can’t be profitable to pay $4 to ship a $7 t-shirt And have someone being payed $9 an hour pick the item? I’m no mathematician but that doesn’t seem like a smart business practice.
I’m amazed that Belk has made it to December 2020. But my gut feeling is that may be Belk’s last Christmas as a brick and mortar or maybe last Christmas all together. I could be mistaken, but what the condition of these stores and high rate of employee turnover, I don’t think so.
I believe that Harper and Hendricks WANT belk stores to close so they get a multi-million dollar package and move on to the next company. it’s not an accident that they both worked together in California, and now with Belk. They both absolutely creep me out, there is something nefarious about them, I hope and prey other people see the same thing.
Lisa Harper and Don Hendricks are discouraging in-store shopping and they also don’t favor older shoppers, even though Harper is 61. This is such an odd culture they have instituted in Belk stores. khols, Macy’s, Dillard’s, Nordstrom have all encouraged online shopping, but they are not letting their stores turn into c-ap.
I agree; I personally believe there is some real reasons we don’t know why it get planted in consumers heads that ordering clothes online is way to go now. Belk offers deeper discounts for online and curbside pickup, purposely discouraging shopping in store. Customers want to come, Belk doesn’t want them there, Belk want them to order online. Why not to do opposite? Why not to offer additional discount/ coupon for in-store shopping? And then we read left and right that consumers habits are changing. Is it really more profitable for the company? Shipping cost, payroll for pickers, returns, damage during shipment and lost packages. Is it really that good?
You don’t have to be tech savy to post online. You just have to know how to type.
@Carla
67 years old and admittedly not tech savvy, yet you’re posting on this site?
my grandchildren are 9, 11, 12. They Only use internet when we are in the room with them. I can’t fathom a child that young accidentally clicking on p–n (even with the internet block for adults only websight) or something else vile. that is the scary part.
