Thread regarding Belk layoffs

Turkey day was a big turkey for retailers

Sure would like to hear some actual hard info about sales results. Evidently most who post here are worker bees, buzz-buzz-buzz, and are kept far away from the hive and real information.

Painful to look at the circular. No fashion whatsoever. Not even an attempt at fashion. Just stuff,
Oh and that Belki Bear! Looks pathetic, might have to change my nom de plume.

Saw many pics of the stores from throughout the chain on local news sites...they looked well kept and imagine that, clean. Hard to stage pics for local news. No, no crowds though...far from it.

Today's financial headlines are out and reveal B&M sales down 50%+ for Friday...with on-line sales up 20%+...that still nets out to a major hit for retailers.

Facts of the matter are that Sycamore has avoided massive store closures, so far. They obviously have cash on hand from bleeding their major assets dry by taking out massive loans against their equity. That debt now valued at pennies on the dollar. Looks like a big shell game, like those street corner con games.

Given the legalities surrounding store closure notices to workers...if "Syk-co" is intending closures around the end of January/early February, inventory time...that news should be out in the next few weeks.

Meanwhile, if any of you are truly in the know, how about sharing some numbers and not just break room gossip.

Them sycamore boys bit off more than they can chew, reminds me of them hot sauce commercials in the 90s. NEW York City!? The first thing they forgot was southern hospitality Damn Shame. If they read this and want some help Hit me up. I’ve been watching and listening and they better Fix IT fast. OR it’s gonna really hurt the pocketbook sooner rather than later. Or maybe ask Micheal Jordan to help em out. Oops too soon. No Nike !.$*

This BELKIEBEAR post does have a strange tone to it. Almost like an executive masquerading as a rank and file employee. Very weird.

look at the circular, merchandise selection, employee turnover, “seasonal new hires” (some who literally have trouble reading), lack of upper management involvement with stores, store managers out of the “loop”, regional managers afraid of being fired at the drop of a dime, lack of loss prevention in stores, countless customer complaints both in-store and online, no store upkeep, stores in disarray or very unclean/dirty, scheduling issues (some schedules not being posted on time or changing day to day), store managers doing the work of entry-level associates, lack of social distancing in stores, stores with covid cases and associates not notified, no merit/cost of living raises in two years, blatant favoritism and racism in stores (by management), s-xual harassment in some stores (by managers and loss prevention), negative press about belk not paying vendors, and we can go on and on...........
