Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Ok, so no water is allowed on the salesfloor for associates?

Been getting all these "reinforcement " of guidlines at our store. Drees code, availability etc....now we can't have water? How are colleagues supposed to hydrate during this pandemic? Wearing these "company approved" masks all day that are barely breathable. And to deal with the poor air circulation within the store??? So we have to wait till our break??? Macy's has become modern day slavery.

It varies from state to state! Currently because of Covid customers are not allowed to even walk through the building with food, associates are not allowed to have water on the selling floor regardless! As stated above, it is based on constantly removing your mask to drink.

Respinding to commentor "Huh" , No I'm not one of those and I do Like where I work!!! Also, In the past we were allowed to have WATER at our wrapstands only if it was in a a closed/resealable/nonspilling container. Now, ANY FOOD OR BEVERAGE is not allowed to be consumed on the sales floor, customers or by associates.

This is a great example of if you don’t like where you work or who you work for, then quit. Instead of spreading fault rumors and drag everyone else around with it, go find something else you like and be happy!

At all Macy’s, you are allowed water as long as it’s in a clear and spill proof.

You must be one of those who go over to Starbucks, get a drink and a cup of ice water and put them either on the counter or under the wrap stand and when a manager caught you and threw them away, you get upset and have the need to trash the hand that feed you.

Thumps up to ya!

Oh no they are still doing that? So years ago. Yup, they're resorting to old RULES. Didn't work then don't think it will work now. Executives use to walk around and throw things in the garbage. How it started. How's it going????

Here in my state, customers/us are not supposed to consume beverages or food in the store (we're allowed to eat in break rooms of course) as part of the COVID restrictions since maybe November.

Of course we're allowed to have water by the registers but we can't take off our masks to have a sip around anyone. Luckily my register is by a stockroom so I just get quick drinks in the stockroom as needed. Everyone in my department has been doing this as a courtesy anyway since we reopened in June.

We can have water in a closed water bottle. Can't imagine it is different from state to state.

I'm not sure this is correct. We've always been allowed water, just not food (unless you need a little something for blood sugar). (Hell we usually get away with chips and candy and snacks, no one cares unless you're blatant). I am positive I have read water is allowed. This seems to be an issue with your store. Try and locate the policy.

I get it, but likening that to slavery is pretty effed up. Use common sense, it's 2021 FFS.

Currently working the fitting rooms and the ONLY benefit is that I can run to the sorting room in the back and scarf down an energy bar and some water in peace lol
