Thread regarding Nordstrom layoffs

Wow, minus 22%! πŸŽ„πŸŽ

Holiday sales down 22%... but they said they still expect a profit for Q4 – those layoffs must still be paying off!
Covid relief money probably helps too, but I wonder if they are paying rent?

Admin didn’t understand or like the earlier maggot comment. So let’s simplify - if company’s strategy is based on layoff, your survival aligns with Buffet’s thinking of β€œcigar butts with few puffs left” which means employees are just barnacles waiting to be sc-aped off. Works well for top management but not all employees. Take your pick!

If Nordstrom has to continually have layoffs every other year to make a profit. Which it seems is so, we're pretty much doomed.

The next Nordstrom earnings is expected in early March. Then we expect to hear about holiday sales and the status of the BAM rents. You have the half-rents paid for much of 2020, any ongoing legal action for this, and Nordstrom's plans going forward.

Readers of this forum should post any other questions they may have – maybe we can get them addressed in the 10-Q or even the analyst phone call.

I think any new FLS closings announced now will be a real red-flag for the store business, unless there's a specific issue or external situation that can explain them (a "reason", also "excuse").

If Inslee would back off already, I could enjoy a nice lunch at store 001 downtown.
