I’m still in shock as I never thought I’d find myself in this position so early in my career. I was already being jerked around to different teams, and now this? I’m not even sure if I should be searching for jobs in a company that feels like a sinking ship.
I hope all of you can land somewhere on your feet.

Digital Sales got RA'd also but not a Summit. Bunch of weasels in charge glad to be leaving
My fiancé was RA'd last summer as a Summit so yes, they're no longer safe. He was only able to stay with IBM by making the right connection with an exec. Understand, no matter where you go, there's no such thing as job security. So polish up your resume and interview externally as well as internally. Best of luck
It's always shocking even if not unexpected. It's not about YOU, it's IBM. In your 20's don't look for a job in IBM, get out now! The reshuffling and moving to different teams is the new norm IBM. Today your X, tomorrow Y, next January is will be Z. Be loyal to yourself not IBM or any company!
Don't be surprised What IBM does blends in some of the younger people to say no age discrimination. IBM won't say something like 80% was 45 and older.
Your best action plan would be update your resume and get them out on boards and get to a company that actually makes money without smoke and mirrors
Summit’s have always been (at least under Ginny’s leadership) a group of future leaders that were trained to experience IBM in different rotations, to see which path would be the best fit. In my experience, the majority of Summit hires have been very intelligent, hard working young men and women. It is true that many had connections to IBM leadership in some way it form (friend, neighbor, relative, etc). With Arvind in the corner office now, this may change. A lot of change is happening at the company and it needs to. If IBM wants to compete in the way it needs to, changes are bound to happen. For everyone who lost their job, I know that you will find a new role and life will go on. Stay positive, test negative :)

Negotiate. Instead of a severance, ask them to keep you for two months. Use the time and health insurance to find a new job.
The 40+ percent of your peers whose parents are IBM Execs are sleeping well tonight
Sorry to hear that You were sacrificed in the event that the Feds force IBM to stop skirting the regulation to report ages Just one of you brings down the average of three 55 year olds by almost 10 years You'll be ok Go apply at every competitor And remember this lesson because in 30 years history will repeat itself
To OP: this is the way IBM always is. Any day, any time you can be cut with no warning. Don't stay at IBM thinking it will get better because there is no evidence it ever will. Get out now while you're young enough to start over.
Same as you in my last quarter of summit and was told by my manager today.
IBM Summit — IBM’s premier sales training program
You are just collateral damage... IBM layoffs old people but also has to lay off young people so it can show that it is not age discrimination.... That is a heads up for you young people who think it is smart to join IBM. Don't... There are plenty of other companies that are more serious than IBM and that care about people's careers...
Be smart!
What BU were you in? Waiting for my call
College graduates.
How long have you been with IBM? I’ve never heard of a Summit getting RA’d while in the program
My suggestion: Take everything you've learned thus far at IBM, add it to your resume, and get out now. Hopefully IBM was always just a starting point for your career and it's now fulfilled it's usefulness. Wish you the best.
I was under the impression that summits were protected from RAs for some time after graduation. Is this no longer the case,
What's a summit?
