Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

I am officially leaving that sinking ship!

Oh, the long sigh of relief I am having now... like the cruise ship leaving port, the noisy city slowly growing less loud and disappearing altogether to a blessed silence....Seagulls and waves. I honestly feel like that. That and escaping prison. The relief.

I going back to the software world. I get a pay raise, 4 day week, unlimited vacation, an office with the proper trimmings, a soon to be listed company, I feel so, so utterly relieved... God, why did I wait so long???

I'm not the captain!!! Why do I have to sink with this boat, eh? One Team. One Boat. Well let me tell you something: your skills are definitely transferable. Its the ability to adapt that matters, the ability to deal with people delicately, not the specific skillset you have: those you can learn those! Take a peek around, dare to let it be known to those you trust that you are in the market. Good things can happen. It hard not to beat Xerox at this point...

Hope is there. Regret is not having seized the day.
Don't become the old who regret.
Seize the Day!!!

Totally agree! Got to move on. Soon xerox will be a spec in the rear view mirror... like the gas station facilities you wish took a pass on.

Just be careful not to bring the drama and complaining with you to a new job. I know this website is basically the place to sound off so it’s not reflective of how most of you all would conduct yourselves in an interview or new job, but I know it’s a huge red flag for me to see someone who can’t let go of their old hurt. Without knowing more, a stranger is likely to think you’re a magnet for drama or problems regardless of what you may have truly experienced.

Like I said I don’t think what’s posted here is reflective of most folks day to day but given the level of vitriol just be careful. Don’t let this dominate your life (professional or otherwise.) That’s an easy way for it to end up coloring your future in ways that is a huge detriment to you.

So many “tech power house” bs statements and long winded rationalizations... maybe this place deserved respect in the past but today? Nope.

So many butt hurt people over a place that is nothing more than a place you earn a living. It’s a contact. They pay you to do a job. You agree to work there. An entity that doesn’t care about you. A place you could have left anytime (this isn’t the USSR!). Those that don’t understand this are the ones that will leave scorched earth in their wake. I took from xerox everything I could over 22 yrs. I consistently switched roles and gained skills. It served me well and xerox treated me and my family just fine and lived up to their agreement. But when I was done with them I left. I didn’t have to disrespect that entity in order to feel good about leaving. Still good ppl working there that I care about and would never make them feel small for staying

I have no problem Diss-ing xerox: it diss-ed me soooo many times so it can reap it. What kind of respect do you think this place deserves? “Karma?” “Watch Out!” Puhh-lease!

Not a fan of cruise vacations but would prefer to be on one now vs xerox. Carnival stock similar to xrx too... though it was more stable pre covid and has a brighter 2021.

I also left a while back and things have never been better.

But leave on a positive note, remember they have been paying you to support your life and family.

I believe if you leave and diss the company while leaving, karma will follow you ... watch out.

CONGRATS!!! First step is the hardest - but after you are out of the chaos and abuse all you can think about it is why didnt you leave sooner. I was in same situation and my life has completely changed. Can't believe I stayed at that dump so long.

Best thing I did was leave and Xerox taught me A LOT of skills that I used to my benefit elsewhere. I’m making way more money, command more respect and more better benefits too. Best decision of my life to leave X. Best of luck all - don’t wait for a layoff!
