Management takes turns daily watching employees in the camera room, not looking for shoplifters. They’re goal is to observe a violation they can use to terminate F/T employees. Especially those with 5 or more years of tenure. They want you gone to save labor dollars. The orders come from Corp down to the stores.

fort mill sc has about 900 dollars a day missing from theft for the entire year, I could write a book on all the crooked things that go on at Lowe's in fort mill, sc, they need to clean house, buy from your local owners, remember how many items come from China.
2 incidents to support mgmt watching or going back to cameras. First as Assoc in OSLG who worked hard and asked ASM’s that came out what they needed, and they said ‘ Not you, we are grabbing those guys we’ve seen do nothing but just chat with each other for hours, they need to do something.’ Then told me they were watching them on cameras.
2nd incident, when they told me I had to leave early because I refused to do something I felt wasn’t safe, they went back to cameras to see who I talked to when I signed out for day and on my way out the door. Next day when had ‘little chat’ with SM he told me they ‘looked’ to see who I talked with and followed with the to see if said anything disparaging. I had already called HR before I showed up for next shift and HR had my back, which shocked the SM, who is used to intimidation and employees that don’t calmly relate facts & incidents to stand up for themselves.
This definitely goes on in my store. They rarely even hide it. When they do catch someone doing something they think is wrong, they tell them outright that they just saw you on camera. They could care less that employee in the next apartment over was doing exact same thing.
Very doubtful, Lowe's' has one of the most minimalism camera systems in retail. The only people they can really watch are cashiers and receiving camera. Plus nobody is every in our camera room since the since the Loss Prevention personnel were laid off, the door is always open and no one ever in thier.
Former ASM - The funny part of this is that it's simply not possible because of time management. It's paranoia and a rationalization for potential poor performance . This is a theory in any environment and folks simply jump on board. "Oh they are watching us on camera" , sure any store has the personal and hours to complete this. The really great part is we all are tracked on camera almost everywhere we go! So why would you be so dam concerned about what you are doing when you work?
So start marking this post negative , just remember we are tracking and monitoring your ever move,
Lowe*s Camera Team 24/7
What's all the complaining about, last I heard fed giving extra 300 a week plus state...... I'm sure that's more than your taking home! I'd love it if they term me!
It just shows that nothing matters but today's stock number. Any logical analysis would find that in the vast majority of cases a tenured associate gives better service and thus better results. The fact that they cost more in payroll/benefits is heavily outweighed by the better performance. But corporate people foolishly believe that a new employee will yield the same results at a lower outlay. Logic and common sense play little role in todays business world. I do expect that us tenured associates are reaching the final days.
It’s true that the company wants tenured associates out. It sounds like your store is taking the route of watching people on the security cameras. My store is taking the route of just harassing anyone who has been there longer than ten years. The nit picking is insane and clearly a tactic to drive people out. They’re even doing it to my store manager who has worked for Lowe’s for over twenty years. I’ve seen his emails and believe me, the district manager ( or market director, or whatever ) sends him blatantly threatening demands. “Get your LTR scores above 85, or start looking for other work.” is an example.
This company isn’t worth driving yourselves crazy. I’ve found another job and I’m giving my notice today. Goodbye Lowe’s. You weren’t worth my time.
As a current manager this is the most ridiculous conspiracy theory I have ever heard. We have so much going on there is not even time to do this, let alone the fact it is outrageous. If you get termed its because of something you did or did not do not a target on your back because you are FT or worked there too long
I’d make a call to the ethics hotline, this doesn’t sound right.
I too was a former ASM and can attest to this being a common tactic to get payroll down. My last manager would use very minor 'safety violations' to either fire people or mostly put them on final notice, and he would use the video surveillance apparatus to as his main tool to do this.
Most of the losses in retail come from internal(employees), not external(customers)—whether it’s by theft or fraud. This is well-documented and why they are watching you.
I have several managers who consistently monitor my work efforts while ignore those in the department who don’t work. I found a set of drill bits and a set of screw drivers in my department, I had those sitting on the desk to take to returns. Management tried to write me up for shopping on company time.
As a consumer thanks for sharing this information. I will not be shopping there in the future.
As a former ASM I can say this is true. I left Lowes a year ago. We were doing it before covid hit.
