Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Should I jump ship? Would you?

I've been wrestling with this idea for a while anyway. Would you leave now if you could?

I think I'll probably leave.

Unfortunately, I would look into another company that is growing and not sinking. I am doing the same. Macy’s has completely hollowed me out to the point where I’m at a mental state of emergency right now.

Listening on conference calls, corporate and WFH employees are delusional of the reality of stores. They don’t even go into the stores much anymore. Actions speak more volume than words and this pandemic has only shown the true colors of who we work for.

The fact that Jeff G and the board pocketed millions of dollars during a pandemic is disgusting. I work with people that have to take the bus to work every shift and now their hours are being cut. SHAME ON MACYS!!!

If you need to ask the general population if you should leave Macy’s, you probably should. And btw, most employers find strength in those that don’t need “direct supervision.”

Depends on many factors:

Age

Length of service

Ability to quickly get a new job

Will you make similar money if you quit?

Benefits

Severance package eligibility

Probably a ton more too

Well I think the days of the dept stores are going as well as malls. But not all malls are going. It’s going to be drones delivered stuff by end of year which M will not be able to compete. I ordered a $10 hdmi cable from Amazon and wanted to return it. And they said don’t bring it back , keep it and will give you a refund. So I got it for free. ( not that I need it ). But do you think Macy’s has that kinda of customer service? Amazon took a small loss and made me happy A small loss for Macy’s will cost jobs and doors to close.
