I heard that coverage ASM are going away January 29 so they won’t get the mip and apm are merging with the front end. Digital ASM are going to coaches. Has anyone heard this too

I believe that coverage asms are done as of today unless they found something else.
January 29th is the termination date for Department Managers and similar roles that have been cut. The new role structure should be available on the Wire for your specific store and is supposed to have been posted (check with your personnel if you're comfortable). Each store is allocated certain quantities of Team Leads and other roles which will be listed in the structure. There was a role if I recall that can be attributed to the old ZM role in terms of function in order to eliminate a couple CSM roles. Front end changes should have happened in your store mid-summer as that's where they have chosen to lead with these changes. (As this includes the AP bracket of associates.)
January 29th is also the date they will begin enacting structural changes to the lower roles. This is a reorganization of the positions below Team Lead and Coach roles. It may be that your store has not phased out the role until then, as many of the job functions are being reassigned. Similar to how cashiers now do more overrides for neighboring cashiers. You should see changes to all CAP teams at this time as well as potential changes to how they "Team" the front end.

Not true. They are in place until Oct 2021 just like hourly managers.
Most stores are already on the program. They will cut the assistant managers in half and call them something else.
Technically according to the gwp page (faq) The covering asm is a position. So that being said covering asm would need to be provided a severance. I asked a couple store managers if that was true and they told me the position will go away at some point but they have not herd anything official. And everything is just a rumor. They would need to have conversions with covering asms in the next couple days if they plan on doing it to avoid mip
