Thread regarding Norfolk Southern Corp. layoffs

It's time for all crafts to stand down!!!

The only way to save our jobs is for all crafts to join together and stand down and halt all Locomotive movements!!!
Stand at the entrance of each yard and strike!!!
Our upper union representatives have failed us and aren't going to fight to save our jobs!!!
Norfolk Southern needs to be exposed!!!
They have run the company into the ground selling everything and cutting jobs at a record pace to falsify profits to fool their investors into believing the company is making record revenue.

NS is only interested in move mainline freight from point A to point B with a one man crew , all local and yard service will be done by short line carriers , all maintenance will be contracted out ! You had your chance to strike years ago and you blew it.

The day of the strong union is over, sad to say. You just can't beat big business. Their pockets are deep. Unions can't do much more than basic business in shops. I'm a 25 year member and I've seen it decline for years.

Yes i would strike with you i would have never thought things would get this bad .I have 25 years of service . I was sold out by the union Brotherhood of carman that i paid my dues to so they could bring in ttx workers to steal my damn job . They also represent ttx i ever get close enough to the president of B.R.c. i will smack him in the mouth. We need to fight back against company and union . The mofw has the strongest least corrupt union they should represent all of us.

I agree with a previous poster. If you were to strike youd be in the maybe 20% minority. Your co workers would be running past the picket line to gobble up the OT caused by the strike.

We rejected our last contract. Sent it back with changes. Then union sent us the original contract we rejected back and said try again. It miraculously passed this time. Just like a school levy. Keep putting it up for a vote until it passes.

I believe this round of National Negotiations will go to a PEB, if the Carriers gets
most of what they want at the PEB the membership will reject the contract and there will be a Nationwide strike.
Then it is up to Congress to decide how long they allow the strike to last.

I was the lone No vote at our last contract vote the most disappointing thing about it was that I knew everyone in the room voted yes. Comeback to reality man there's tons of litigation and red tape that goes into a transportation contract strike. Even if you were to beat the odds and have a strike and a picket line you would see more than half your coworkers walk right though it. The reality is you just might be the only 1 on the line and the only 1 holding a sign. Solidarity has become a four letter word, these are very hard thing for a 26year Union man to mutter. I have nothing more to say about this.

Haha right the senior men, most of them in union leadership positions, couldn't wait to gobble up the OT caused by the latest round of layoffs.

You can strike at contract time , the unions same old excuse is , the president will just make us go back to work , next contract vote it down and force the issue, it may be too late but at least they might start to see we do still have power. The stockholders all know exactly what is is going on , they are just getting their millions like the company before they jump ship.

I am afraid to say the damage was done long ago. The day they said Transportation Workers could not strike is the day every Union Worker in America should have walked off the job. Without a joint strike effort there is no leverage against all the foul practices of a corporation like NS or any other for that matter. The 21st century has brought even deeper corruption inside the Union ranks themselves and the UAW indictments prove that. The only way to gain back what has been lost is though unity and the local hall meetings show all hope is lost Brother. Your motion is 100% correct your followers 15% Union the rest Company, how'd that company work for those that are furloughed.
