Thread regarding Norfolk Southern Corp. layoffs

Upper management at each other’s throats

I have a very good friend that rose up through the ranks and actually flies on the corporate jets etc... He told me that there was a big meeting that Mrs C’s camp and Mr. S’s camp had a shouting match about the latest numbers to come out. He mentioned that cuts are fixing to go deeper and management Is scared sh–less. They gave the green light for a purge so to speak to fire as many people as they could. I mentioned that I bought a new boat and he immediately told me to take it back ASAP! Buckle up boys and girls, it’s fixing to get rougher!

Folks listen up! I'm a 2 time victim of PSR, and I can absolutely tell you that its going to get worse unless an intervention takes place. The only way that'll happen is if there's a massive disruption in service to customers. I can also tell you that making up conspiracy theories, voicing "rumors", spreading BS lies, or attacking other employees affected by this does not help at all. You're all in the same game that the tens of thousands of furloughed RR employees were in too. The RR corporate world will axe ANYONE they feel is unnecessary to achieve their goals. It s—s that this is happening, but it is the new sad truth. Everyone can thank Wall Street for the PSR push. They are in fact the ones that began the influential push for maximum efficiency. The current administration tax cuts had an unintended downside. Less taxes made bigger corporations more attractive to investors, but it didn't stop there. The PSR efficiency push began, and profits began soaring. PSR has NOTHING to do with efficiency. The efficiency push is nothing more than a distraction. A 2 year old can see that this is all about the money. If the NS goes the same route that the UP and CP did, then you better brace yourselves. I'm sure some will downvote this, and that's OK, because some people can't accept the truth. I never worked for the NS, but I did work for the UP when Sanborn was there. I feel for the RR employees, regardless of who you work for. So the real point I want to make here is that you need to keep your aggressions towards the corporate clowns, and not the people you work next to. PSR won't last forever. Once the corporate A-holes make their money, they'll abandon the push, or sink the company in the process of doing so. Stay strong people!

Classic example of the upper class blaming all the failure on the lower class. All we do is come to work every day. They are the ones running this circus.

With the main competition now days away from reporting their usual better than ever results, there must be a frenzied panic at the top at ns as they run the numbers every way possible to be close to meeting the long-awaited expectations.

Remember: the goals of the TOP21 plan were promised to be met BY 2021 and so here we are...judgement day has arrived. Squires neck will be the first to get the blade should we fall far short.

Get out while there’s still jobs out there. I don’t see a lot of hope for job growth/ economy growth in the future. Wait too long and you will be stuck.

They should close everything and lay off everyone that way we would reach 0% options. That would be innovation baby!

Hard to believe a lot of what is posted here but what I will say is they are almost at the end of their ropes of ideas. Sold and idled locomotives. They have sold off almost their entire fleet of cars. They have sold buildings, ripped out tracks. Retirements happened, positions eliminated. They have laid off 1000s. They have closed places like Roanokes shop. Closed off all hump yards in addition to combined forces and the layover pay to crews eliminated. So here we are. They did not make it so what is next? Anyone's guess.

While I’m not sure whether the actual story in this post is true, ultimately it doesn’t matter. I guarantee it is hostile right now at the top. Look at the numbers ie. revenue, OR and it’s not looking good. They can make whatever excuses they want but other RRs are preforming much better right now and I can almost guarantee this next quarter is the same story. And don’t forget the impairment charge. I think that was supposed to be a saving grace for them but I wouldn’t be surprised if it didn’t move the needle much. As far as the stock goes, all i have to say is stocks are tricky. There are some good documentaries online that explain how disconnected and confusing stocks can be at times compared to actual company performance and long term viability. If you’re old enough to remember Enron, all I’ll say is there are some similarities.

😂😂😂 buckle up... it’s been the same for the last 2 years. Nothing new, why do you think everyone is saying find something else while you can? It’s like holding on to stage 4 pancreatic cancer, you can hang on for a little longer but soon enough you’ll meet your demise
