I love how all these posters are claiming BN is a “sinking ship” or a “dumpster fire” waiting to happen. Seriously? It will be YEARS (if ever) for BN to hit rock bottom let alone fail. The future is digital sales and BN is taking advantage of it. Some underperforming stores will definitely close - that’s a given. But the company as a whole will survive and hopefully flourish by the end of 2021 going into 2022.

He must be out of free visits to the mental health clinic.

“Same exact topics and conversations, by the same six people.
Redundant as always”
Couldn’t agree more .
“It’s the same people”
the same redundant people b–ching and complaining .
Still have that one guy:
Barnes and Noble used to be a prestigious job!
Dear Lord ,
Mr. “It’s the same people posting”
Mr. “ it’s the formers, the formers!”
Is back....
I agree BN was NEVER a prestigious job. They wanted you to think so. But once you saw the toxic culture up close, there it was.

Redundant as always.
And the conspiracy “six people post” theorist is back...
Dear Lord......
Just signed on after a three month break:

No company sets out to fail.
Putting the wrong people in charge ( CEO revolving door) & leaving Districts & individual stores to be managed by people not in line with the company , but out for themselves, will always fail.e of retail
BN-Once an example of retail excellence, now an industry joke.
Calling Barnes & Noble a dumpster fire is doing a grave disservice to dumpster fires.
Is that Daunt posting the OP?
Yeah, nothing is ever meant to fail. No one starts or acquires a business with the intention to fail. However, a history of bad decisions, toxic corporate culture, encouraging distrust & micromanaging of employees, and a failure to make pricing attractive to visitors, aren’t exactly helping BN. And, while I worked there, many employees became disenchanted, as I did, with what could have been an enjoyable job.
Here are other companies that weren’t “meant to fail” but did: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_defunct_retailers_of_the_United_States
They have poor history of devices, so can’t claim superior product for e-readers/tablets.
Bought a nook with their Black Friday special once. It was garbage. Cleared it & threw it out.
( couldn’t get refund or credit only Nook upgrade)
Yes. Lots of truth disappears from the site. I don’t know where the Barnes & Noble is pressuring them or this “anonymous “site is cowering over potential lawsuits.
If you meant “digital” as online then that would be e-commerce. Digital is referring to ebooks etc.
Actually, physical books have outsold digital books for the past several years. Digital books sold well the first few years when e-readers came out. But that has changed and if that is what you are relying on-don’t. BN doesn’t need booksellers or stores for ebooks. They have poor history of devices, so can’t claim superior product for e-readers/tablets.
Can’t wait to see all the pretentious managers & DMs let go ! Sure ,order an ebook online if you trust that the Nook won’t go offline ,for a week, again. But get rid of the dirty stores.
This site is such BS! They are removing all the real posts that tell you about the uneducated, s-xually inappropriate, completely incompetent managers. I posted several facts that were deleted by the admin- this “freedom” site is a scam!!!!
I don’t think Barnes and Noble will fail due to low sales, it will fail or fold due to its hedge fund owner realizing that Book chains are not equitable investments meaning they don’t perform well relative to the market place at large or are a waste of money time value wise, if Barnes and Noble only yields a 2 percent profit why risk so much cash to get it when the owners could acquire a much safer investment with less risk for similar returns.
To the OP- take a look at your stores P&L. Educate yourself and ask smart business questions, when does your lease renew, how much do you actually net, only then should you be pulling out your box to preach upon!
Imma thinking you’re gonna have a change of heart! Sad but true!
When a store is dead on a payday Friday, it does not look good. I seriously wish ill will to BN as a company. They deserve to fail. Down with BN, Daunt, Riggio. Down with anyone stupid enough to think this company will survive. BN deserves to be shut down and all employees fired.
No store is “meant to fail”. But with all the bad decisions Barnes has made, they’re getting really good at it !
Non productive stores will close.
What about non productive customer service ?
They’re horrible!
If you can get one , whose accent you can understand, don’t expect your problem to be resolved.
Ebooks ?
I prefer real books.
I buy them from Amazon. Much cheaper.
WELL PUT !
And,My Kindle has NEVER c-ap*ed out.
I’m good with closing stores.
Let the people in the Philippines process your ebooks. That is if the Nook doesn’t go down for a week, Again.
