If your store is closing what would you do?

"The previous package was only offered to associates over the age of 55 with 15 years of service."

Huh? What in the world are you talking about?

The previous package was only offered to associates over the age of 55 with 15 years of service.

I’ve only been at Macy’s for 2.5 years and I have seen enough. Give me the severance package so I can focus all that energy on myself. Unfortunately, we are all dispensable to the company so we should all reassess where our loyalties lie.

people who preach “work ethic” and complain about millennials usually don’t have much money. You can’t pay your bills with “ethic”

If you’re that close to retirement and still working for insurance, move to another store if offered. Severance wouldn’t touch the cost of private insurance unless you would qualify for Medicare.

If you have the years, severance may be better than going to another location they will eventually close too.

I’m a little long in the tooth, I’d (if they’d take me) go to the closest Macy’s JUST for insurance.
But I will say... and totally so true,
The associates who are older have a work ethic that’s lost on the latest generation AND corporation (I don’t even know what the hell it’s called anymore!). In my 40 years I MIGHT have called in 5 times... 2 of those times management sent me home... See if you get that now! LOL!

I would take package and collect unemployment and take your time finding your next job. Do not stay !

Stay on the sinking ship or take the life raft to safety? That is an analogy I would use.

I guess that depends on how long you’ve been there. Obviously the longer the tenure the bigger the package. I would factor in what state you live in as well. My state allows you to accept a package and still collect unemployment benefits. With both of these combined you might be able to hang in there until you find another job elsewhere.
