For the past 6 months many online blogs and community Facebook pages such as “What’s going on in___________?” Show a growing trend of Frontier customers questioning the 500/500 and 1000/1000 speeds being installed. Customers are asking why only the branded FTR router can show the speeds but a after market CPE such as Netgear’s NightHawk can’t?

3rd party router can absolutely show the right speed. Most businesses don’t use our router and I rarely see them not getting speeds. It’s funny you mention Netgear, those are the only routers I’ve seen that have issues which lead me to believe it’s a netgear issue and not a blanket issue with third party equipment. And the Arris routers are trash, the built in speed test in the router will always show 20-50 megs more than what you get on Speedtest and wirelessly forget it, you have to use third party to get anything close to advertised speeds wirelessly. The Arris won’t come close especially if they have 500 or 1Gig. Friend of mine got the 1gig, on the Arris he could only get 300 on wireless so he picked up and Asus router and then was getting 700 on wireless. The Arris routers junk
