Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

Keep getting asked

Wow! Our store is EMPTY!!
I keep getting asked from customers if we are closing! One customer I had said she was a manager at Linens n things and the way we look was how they looked before they were informed they were going out of business.
Any other stores bare bones?
I’m an A volume

In an online world, brick and mortar stores need to give customers a reason to come in. Reducing assortment while having close to zero employees available to assist customers will make our stores like the housewares and bedding section of a Walmart or Target but with worse in stocks and higher prices. What are we going to do to drive customers into the stores?

My store has looked bare coming out of Xmas. BBB has cut back on the amount of vendors it uses to save money. This is also in line with its process to trim down assortment (instead of carrying 5 different can openers, we’ll only carry 2). My freight has picked up over the last 2 deliveries and the forecast looks even heavier. My bet is you’ll be filled back up soon.

Enjoy the break right now. Xmas 2020 was a monster. Come March the building blocks of a new company starts to come into fruition. MT and company are going to lay out their agenda and expectation for 2021. No more layoffs just holding everyone accountable and firing those who can't. ACCOUNTABILITY key word. No excuses as to why freight can't be done, email capture can't be met and tasks can't be accomplished.

"One customer I had said she was a manager at Linens n things and the way we look was how they looked before they were informed they were going out of business."

•The company is years away from even remotely going out of business. Target, Walmart and many other retail stores were ahead of the game by reducing inventory in store. You don't need floor to ceiling merchandising in a online world. Everything is a click away thanks to Amazon. It's why companies like Walmart and Target shifted their money to their online business, curbside, same-day shipping and in store pickup since an always on omni was the future. Read the ER to know what the company is doing.
• Will BBBy go out of business? Eventually If this turnaround doesn't come to fruition. Reduce inventory, close underperforming stores and sell off asset that doesn't make sense to your core business.

Ohh yes. B volume store. It’s getting.....better...but that’s because they stretched everything we have out to make it “look” more full.

Getting visions of Kmart stores. Very disturbing. 🤥😢
