Simply not show up?

BN was my first job which I loved very much at first, however, it is high time to move on. I am applying for a completely different environment and I hope to get that job. However, here I saw that there are those who, after getting a new job, simply do not show up for work at BN and do not answer calls. Is that an OK practice and are there any consequences if we just “disappear”?

Even if you do give two weeks notice they probably won't ask you to come in. However, if you don't, it's going to end up in HR records, and when any potential employer calls them, they're going to say you just up and left town without any notice, and that could screw up a job you could have had far down the line. The notice isn't really for the company as it is for you and your reputation and marketability for years to come. If you don't conduct You Inc. in a manner that speaks of integrity and doing the right thing, karma could come back to bite you in the a–. Screwing yourself just because others are screwing you just makes you twice as screwed.

I found out what the district manager and SM were saying about all of us employees and it was disgusting. But you can't do anything about them, HR is a joke like it is in every corporation. Unless you can prove it and have a great lawyer, you're screwed and have to deal with it or hopefully find a better job.

It says a lot about you as an employee if you just don’t show up-no matter where u work. Give 2 weeks notice

BN has said a lot of themselves as a company the way they’ve treated employees and customers!
they DO NOT DESERVE you to do “the right thing” when they don’t !
They furloughed/ laid off/ fired THOUSANDS with NO notice !!!!

They don't deserve any notice. The whole corporation doesn't give a sht about its employees, they proved that when they kicked 2000 employees to the curb. They've always treated us like just another body to put books away. Upper management is the nastiest I have ever seen. I am only staying because I can't find anything better right now, but anyone working at B&N for more than a year has stayed way too long! You deserve better.

Start developing good habits now. Tell your store manager that you've found another job and x day will be your last day. Hopefully this date is two weeks in the future. If it is not because your new employer wants you to start sooner, tell your BN manager all this as well. There should be no problem. Good luck and congratulations!

At least call the manager to say you’ve found another job. You never know when you might work with someone again. It’s a small world.

You give them a 2 week courtesy? They’ll get rid of you w/ no notice!
And I wouldn’t list BN as a job. Could hurt your chances to get the new one.
All they legal can give is the time you worked. Are you eligible for rehire. ( you can tell them any reason you want) if they give ANY info other than that it will open them up to a lawsuit.
That, and they won’t be around to give a reference.
