Thread regarding CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield layoffs

Happy New Year! Here’s something to think about ...

Reflect back on the goals and objectives that were missed. That really nothing promised was delivered on time or at all. Why do people still operate in silos and only care about their divisions? One company one team is a great catch phrase but by itself does nothing - one company many sovereign tribes is a better use of the phrase.

2021 predictions:
New SVP CIO.
Still the same CareFirst - lipstick on a pig.
Still the same objectives from BDP - reduce cost, shrink employees 20% - that’s 1000 FTEs for those following along.
Transformation with no leadership and leadership misaligned playing the same old politics that got CareFirst into the mess it’s in now.
Same resources - high tenure, low skill, entitlement culture, expensive for what value that’s given back.
Forward looking ... EAR is a far fetched aspiration. But it’s good to have dreams.

My suggestions to BDP:
Outsource as much as you can. You don’t have the depth or right attitudes onboard to drive the change needed. Sourcing is a way to start over. Start in Operations and IT.

Any other predictions for 2021?

BDP is way too narcissistic to actually care. His CEO series is such a waste and no one listens to or believes what he is saying it’s all a sales pitch. He continues to harp on what good he is personally doing in the community while treating the actual associates like the gum on the bottom of his shoe. He only cares about his personal gain and his career trajectory.

Do any leaders notice or care about mounting inefficiencies? Ha! Not likely. How are they suppose to know what's going on at the ground level? BP is too busy walking 17th floor practicing his whistling. DK is too busy laying off associates. When was the last time any exec talked directly to lowest level worker to get the real scoop on how company is doing? Try it once in a while, you might actually learn something... like the hard truth!

Feels exhausting - going so fast to nowhere. It's a money burning think-tank - with zero output. I really wonder if any of the leaders actually notice and care about how ineffective / wasteful this is... Wake up folks!

Don’t worry, EAR will tell you all your answers. All I heard about in 2019 and 2020 was the account reporting prototype and zipari & now his golden boy is leading EAR. EAR has PWC, multiple DK independent contractors, a business VP, and now the interim BIO leading and still hasn’t been able to produce anything. Don’t worry though, it’s dictating our future, including more cuts. If you’re looking for who is influencing the terrible company decisions, it’s EAR & the leadership team on that program.

Looking for direction in this company is like getting driving directions via Apple Maps in 2012. It told you where to go but eventually you'll end up making three left turns and on the fourth turn you drive into a brick wall

Recruiters, at least the ones who care about their business and reputation, won’t place people in IT anymore. Let that sink in. We’ll get B, C, and D people who are desperate - they will park for decades ... refer to existing organization model.

BDP gone by end of year unless the board is dazzled by the $4k suits - and stop the high water pants Erckle.

It’s best to move on. A few people that were laid off last year are in a better place now. As I still talk to some of them, they are less stressed and making more $$$. They send us a mask that is little too late this past fall when they should of shipped them back in May or June. Think about it if you are making 90k at CF how long will it take you to get to 110k or more?

Agree with last reply. But CF is all about who you know and not what you know. If your one of DK flunkies like a JR and her flunkies and fiend’s coalition from the top in IT (u know who u are) then this company and employees will sure fail while blaming associates for it loses. Hey management remember it’s a small world outside of CareFirst you will need to test the water at some point.

I have seen several friends get eliminated from CF as it was said they were no good and didn’t know how to use them. To find out most of them moved on to a better job making more money. This may not apply to everyone for these folks have been with CF less than 10 years and still contains various background. So, folks don’t be scared, embrace the change. There are good jobs out there I'm seeing it.

But as CF sinks to sh!t levels under a Jr. leadership group it’s really sad to see how many folks get hurt in the process. I'm just happy no one else got laid off during this pandemic from a healthcare company.

I am so sick of seeing the following statement: Same resources - high tenure, low skill, entitlement culture, expensive for what value that’s given back.

For those not paying attention - you want your staff to perform? Then do a better job managing them. Most of the time folks are kept completely in the dark and expected to come in every day to a highly toxic culture and be their best. How the F* are you supposed to do that? In the middle of a pandemic, with the threat of your job being eliminated, be your best. Kids at home full time attending virtual school? Be your best. Wifi connection weak because everyone in the house sharing it to work from home, go to school? Come on, be your best. Oh, wait, CF will send you a box of c-ap you don't need, will barely give you a merit increase to cover the cost of living, but come on Be your Best. Work smarter, not harder. Oh, and people with no clue how the world actually works will come on boards like this and tell you that you're s—y and entitled and everyone should be outsourced. Come on, Be Your Best! I'm sure the leadership has provided everything you need to Be Your Best! They've never lied to you. They've never failed to prioritize work or make sound decisions. It's all YOUR fault if you're not Being Your Best!

"high tenure, low skill"

So accurate it hurts.
