Work From Home Expenses

What’s the word on increased home expense reimbursement? All utilities increasing regardless of your geographic location, along with paying for your own internet. How much longer will SF freeload?

Here’s the thing. If SF is giving $300, they’re gaining $600 somewhere more than likely. SF now more than ever doesn’t give money away because they’re generous. They’re either legally obligated to, or they’re making money on it,

Unless you live in CA, IL, MT, NY, MA or D.C. employers do not have any obligation to reimburse you for business related expenses. Enjoy WFH and quit btc*g about it!

There are employment and HR laws in most states that call girl dime reimbursement for phone and internet snd things.

Where do folks get that there are employees that will be working from home permanently? I work in a LOC and when they announced that the remaining LOCs will be closing permanently, they never told us that we are working from home permanently. What they told approximately 10,000 of us is that we will continue to work from home "for now" and will be told more this year about their plans. That is far from a permanent work from home job.

There is absolutely no guarantee of any relocation benefits for job transfers. So if you think that is an alternative at some point you may be sadly mistaken. I think we will get a thank you for your service, now turn off the lights.

Why is SF spending $300 for WFH? My premium should be reduced!!

@2hej, spot-on, the company reimbursed or helped only as required by local law. I am not sure I understand the attitude that working from home is a benefit and how the company should not reimburse employees for the additional expense incurred. Yes, I prefer working from home. Yes, I am saving money on lunch, gas, clothing, and am getting 2 hours of my time back per day by not having to drive. But that is not a reason the company gets to save operational expenses on my dime. I did have internet before Covid and AC and electric power but now that I am WFM every day my cost to heat and cool my home has gone up as well as my general electric bill. Why, because my setback thermostats can't be used to lower and raise temp when I am not home for 8 hours a day. Also, the lights in my home are on during this time as well. Now for my internet, I did buy a wifi extender and have my provider boost my speed so there was a one-time cost to me for that as well. Now if you want to say I should be happy the savings offset the cost under the live and let live philosophy, I get it but in reality, these are legitimate business expenses, and the company, who everyone here agrees is evil and out to destroy employees, does not get a free pass from me.

Most people did NOT receive any money from SF. Only if your state law required it.

How does one determine if an injury while on the clock at home falls under workers comp?

Everyone did receive $300 from State Farm last pay period to help cover expenses. Be Thankful for that!

I work at on of the locations that currently will not work from home permanently and disappointed that I will have to go back in the near future. Working from home is a benefit as I can do it anywhere in the world long as I have internet. One of the best thing StateFarm has done and I am willing to pay a little more expense to save my commute and list of family time on the road.

The entitlement mentality of the OP and the last reply is everything wrong with America. You expect someone else to spoon feed you. I can see the interview now:
“We would like to offer a full salary, full benefits job with 4 weeks vacation and a week of Life leave. Plus you can work from home and we will provide you with a laptop.”

Poster: “sounds nice, but you truly s— State Farm. How could you expect me to accept that offer without a free desk and chair?! You are the worst. I’m now going to go complain about you on a public forum.”

Some pretty friendly people in here with some really pleasant replies to a valid question. Clearly a handful of people have no problem letting a 115bb company get the best of them when they could care less about you or your family. Get what you can from them. Not an SF employee anymore, thankfully, but the new employer gives $60 a month along with an allowance for desk and chair, oh, and they don’t require you to do the work of three people for the salary of 1. Happy new year

The Bloomington hub received $300 last pay check for this. I think it depends on your state.

Like you didn’t have internet at home, and installed it just for WFH. Pathetic. Whining. Entitled. Loser.

What a ridiculous thread. The OP is an embarrassment and represents an entitlement society. You get a job with great benefits and currently no commute abs you’re complaining about your electric Bill going to up $1.25 a month?

Please quit and take your horrible attitude to another unknowing company!

You got to be kidding. As a LOC employee, I am hoping the WFH job lasts awhile before they move everything to the HUBS. I think every 6 month block from mid 2021 is a bonus. A few dollar increase in utilities while I save much more on travel expenses is the least of my worries.

Be grateful you have a job and are WFH. Once that is up, State Farm is going to be more than happy to bring you back to the office, so you can view your daily metrics huddle in board in person. You'll be wishing you were using your home internet again. If you're one of the many affected by the permanent office closures and are now WFH permanently, really enjoy it because they are going to do everything and anything to bring you to a hub. And if you don't like it, you'll be replaced with a lesser experienced, cheaper and younger version. It's not the way of State Farm. It's the way of the world. Count your blessings.

Posts like this just show what a bunch of id–ts that work for this company. So you are using a little more toilet paper and using a little more water. You are saving so much more in car expenses, meals and clothes. I have literally put money in my pocket. WFH is the best thing that has ever happened.
