That location announced that on August 14. Google it.

Water Tower announced today that we will close in March or April
Really curious if this 30 number is accurate or
If more coming down the road. I understand the whole lease thing and other factors. One of the sites I am familiar with Macy’s owns the building and no one wanted to purchase the site within the last year. The other store I go to is considered Top 200 so imagine that one is safe?
Well back a year ago they said out of 800 stores only 150 are doing really well. That’s why they started the scam of growing stores. 150!growth stores then 250 then 350. But then rona hit. So you can kinda get a idea where they stand
I was also told 30 stores.... they will close more, but there are other circumstances to consider... we have to wait till lease is up, or sell a building. We just cant close it...
Macy’s really needs to shutter close to 100 or so stores. Only closing 30 just delays the inevitable.
Do we know which stores are slated to close? Any in New York or Pennsylvania?
Which 30 stores are closing ?
i was told 30 stores are on the list from somebody in corporate.
Retired red badge here. When my store closed 3 years ago, we were told on Wednesday, the first week of January period. The liquidators were in the building the next day. If the merchandise will be transferred out of closing stores, it makes sense to do inventory so the company knows what it has on hand before the transferring begins. Best of luck to everyone.
Traditionally announcments have happened right BEFORE inventory. I know from experiences stores were informed right before and did not execute INV, instead went right into liquidation. Press releases happened Jan 8th last year for closing stores. However, stores have less inventory than ever before, heading into a liquidation, so it could be very plausible to be more cost effective to transfer merch and utilize targeted fulfilment algorithms as opposed to traditional liquidation... with exception of fixtures. This is why the post about different process this year has merit and would love more information from poster. If no announcments happen early this coming week, it may not mean stores are out of the woods and we could be waiting for an accurate inventory count to best understand how to handle the merch. We will continue to hold our breath.
It’s got to be at least 250 to make any difference
i don't know which ones but I was told at least 30 stores in total will be closing
It’s New Years Eve ! Let the chips fall where they may ,have faith first 🙏No matter what happens know we will be fine 😜Personally I have worked with good and kind people ... I have enjoyed the experience of Macy’s for about 18 years ... If it’s over so be it ! I wish you all Peace in 2021 🙏
Yep. Inventory comes first & then store closure announcements. M doesn't want everyone bailing before inventory. Same as always.
Same process as it has been nothing changed
Curious about the "different process this year". I long suspected given the stock scenarios that this could look different this year and forgo the traditional 3rd party liquidation. Do you have this on good authority or speculation? Any ideas on scope? All neighborhood?
Monday / Tuesday
Different process this year. All stores will complete inventory and then be told if they are closing. The company is not using a liquidator except for fixtures and minimal merchandise, closing stores will transfer the bulk of their inventory to other stores.
No one really knows
That's how it went when my old store closed nearly five years ago. The inventory sheets were already laid and then the bad news came through...
Im assuming next week, isn't it normally how it works. The store gets told before inventory, and those stores don't go through inventory then.
