Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Could there be a bigger gap between salaried and hourly associates?

We have had multiple associates at my store come down with COVID and have to take two or more weeks off to work through it. In every case no one else in the department was allowed time off to quarantine. By contrast our store manager took a complete month off at the beginning of the pandemic (before the rest of us even had PPE) and has missed an additional 4 weeks since due to additional quarantining. Big difference as to how the salaried vs hourly associates are treated in my store.

This is so sad that I decided to copy this author’s post into a new thread. Can you believe this much discrimination against hourly associates? We have almost no rights ... I just wonder if such a gap between hourly and salaried associates exists anywhere else like it does in this company.

Omg.. it happened the same exact way, when the hourly employees got sick or came in contact with someone who had COVID they insisted they still had to come to work and if they missed work they would receive a occurrence (10) occurrences and your fired. So now your left weighing your only two options, do You come to work with a possibility of having Covid-19 risk giving it to someone who is elderly or has health issues possibly infecting them, possibly k–ling them (remember hourly worker quarantine is prohibited) or providing for your family? You have warehouses that have been doing mandatory overtime for consecutive month’s and still going during a whole life threatening pandemic. They have had several cases of COVID at the job, But unfortunately the hourly employees have to push out the product no time to quarantine and think about there health there’s money to be made for the company. They had a guy(hourly worker) his wife(not a Lowe’s worker) tested positive for COVID-19, (he went and got tested after finding out wife had COVID) he called HR to inform them on the situation. HR told him that he still had to come to work if he went out of work he would have to take a personal leave and would not get paid. (With wife being out he could not miss work without pay) he Had the health department telling him to stay out of work for 14 days to quarantine but you had Lowe’s in house HR on his job saying you had to come to work or you wouldn’t get paid.then they said the only way you could get paid if he tested positive for Covid-19. So you would go get tested continue to come to work until your results came back saying you had COVID then and only then it was ok for you to quarantine and receive compensation. What about the people you came in contact with at work while you were infected? Hourly workers are catching pure hell during this pandemic. I don’t no if it’s the overall company or the H.R people on the jobs but this situation can go wrong in so many ways for the overall company and employees. Employer: There’s money to be made!! Employees: but, there’s also lives and love ones to be saved. When a choice you make can be deadly and have long term effects that can make you or break you.

Welcome LAST stage capitalism. LAST! Where the ONLY thing that matters is unfettered greed and bloated bonuses. NOTHING else matters.
